Seeing him make a 30-yard pass across his chest on the run is always nice. :)

Too bad that none of these highlights translated into any consistency, particuarly nice stats or many wins (totally serious.)

But I guess the myth of Kellen the Heisman Winner who threw a football 300 yards and hit Chuck Norris between the eyes lives on...

Am I wrong to assume you're not overly caught up in the pro-Clemens hype?

IMO, Clemens was a pretty nice pickup for you guys. I doubt Chad is ever going to be as effective again as he once was (multiple rotator cuff surgeries tend to spell death for a QB's career, especially for a guy who didnt have that great an arm to start with), so Clemens is definately a good guy for you to have and groom into a future starter.

I gotta complement you on the D'Brick pick up, too...he was one of my favorite players in the draft class, and I hated to see him go to the Jets, lol.

Guess I'm the only one seeing lofts on them, eh? Along with wobbly spirals.

I haven't been a fan since I saw him lose to Arizona State in his junior year.

And I've been downright perplexed as to how some Jets fans can delude themselves into thinking that he is a mobile, strong armed, ultra accurate passer with Tom Brady like intangibles despite the fact that most have never seen more of him than a highlight reel like this one and all scouting reports from before the draft suggested that Clemens has none of those things.

    But Jaws says he's good...

eh i think its because hes being highly touted by analysts and hes doing really good in training camp. Word of mouth travels fast. Personally, I want whoever gives us the best chance to win whether its Chad, Bolly, Clemens or Ramsey.

NCAA passing leaders for every season Clemons played:

Not good enough to place in the top ten in any category any year. Like DeWayne Robertson and Justin Miller, two other great 'athletes' who project to be better NFL players than college players.... never made first team all conference, let alone All American.

I liked it. It wasn't the type of highlite video you would expect to see on a player-Lots of scrambling, slight wobble, not a lot of long balls, etc. But it did have it all. I know it's not the pros but it showed me stuff I haven't seen in the guy. Feet first on most slides. Started to run then found a guy. Under center and in shot gun. I'm not one to compre QB's but I saw more Favre than Brady in the guy. I guess we'll see.

I agree, I'm not one of those fans who perversly roots for the Jets to fail. I sincerely hope that Clemens is a much better QB than I think he is. I also think that while he was not half the college QB that he's advertised to be by Jets fans, he has a lot of room to learn and improve under a good teacher (we'll see how good a teacher Schottenheimer is.)

You don't have to be some sort of great scouting expert to watch a guy play and be unimpressed then read 10 scouting reports that say he is relatively unimpressive, then figure something is fishy when the fans of that player's new team all of the sudden proclaim him the next Peyton Manning/Tom Brady/Lastings Milledge.

He reminds me of Drew Brees. I like the way he plays.

I guess when the Patriots drafted this Brady guy everybody thought he would be a 1st round pick, right?

Stop trying. A lot of scouts / NFL Experts said Clemens was a great pick and some of them think he was the best QB in the draft. But that doesnt matter i guess.

I saw Clemens a lot on college, and I think he has what it takes to be a very good Quarterback in the NFL. I remember back when he was just a sophomore, and how he was already the clear leader on the offense. I saw him in the same category as both Matt Leinart and Aaron Rodgers at the time, and that says a lot considering how highly I think of those two. He's not a terrific athlete, I haven't seen anyone say anything like that; what he is is a very smart and capable scrambler. He can do the three things that I wish I could see in all QBs with some mobility; 1. The ability to avoid first the wave of pressure, 2. The ability to reset himself in or outside the pocket, and 3. The ability to make a positive out of a negative.

I don't look at him and get pissed because we don't have a stat hound or a prototype gunslinger, I'm happy because they found a guy who can take over the offense. That, and he has the arm and head to win football games.

This kids great I really hope he can be the future at QB for this team. He has good arm, good mobility and he can take a hit unlike Chad.
