is it too early to start the "i think it would be best for the jets to lose all their games this year" argument???I know we all almost killed eachother over this debate last season...but would it be the worst thing for the jets to finish dead last in the league and have a shot at another tremendous draft next april?all the darksiders(me included) who were rooting for us to lose every week last year, can you do it again?????can you actually hope for a repeat diaster so we can load up on the offense next draft??hahah I for one cannot sit through another one.....BUT,in the grand schemem of thins would it be so bad???just stirrin up the pot for the fourth celebrations

No. The goal of this regime is to start building a winning atmosphere. You win a couple games and the younger guys will start to get hungry and want more.

Maybe the many years of Bengal ineptness would make you happy. Me? I prefer something known as progress. That is, we get a little better each year. Personally, I'd like to see a lot better each year, but I'm not going to get greedy about it.

You don't need a high draft choice to have a tremendous draft. The Eagles had a great draft and they picked in the middle of the round, the Patriots had a great draft and they picked in the end of the round. If we have good management we should continue to have good drafts no matter what. Unless there are circumstances out of their control (i.e. a ridiculously shallow draft pool)

Also, there doesn't seem to be any "can't miss" prospects next year that would be worth tanking your draft for. There do seem to be good depth at the major positions though.

Running Back - Marshawn Lynch, Adrian Peterson, etc.
Wide Receiver - Dwayne Jarrett, Calvin Johnson, Sidney Rice, etc.
Quarterback - Brady Quinn, Drew Stanton, Jordan Palmer, etc.
Defensive End - Quentin Moses, Gaines Adams, etc.
Linebacker - Paul Posluszny, Patrick Willis, etc.

Tell me who is the Reggie Bush or Matt Leinart out there who would help our team enough to tank for the top pick?

P.S. Please invest in the following: Spacebar and/or Enter key

You never go into a season hoping to lose. That is just plain ridiculous. I am hoping we go 8-8 this season. Anything after that is gravy. The Jets need to set up a winning attitude for 2007 and it starts week one of 2006. No way do we want to lose.

What a STUPID THREAD to post in early July! Last season it wasn't until the very last game (Jan. 1 vs Buffalo) that I wanted us to lose. Because last December we played teams that as Jets fans no matter what your record you want to beat:
Dec. 4 & Dec. 26: New England---obvious, super bowls champs who own us.
    Dec. 11: Oakland---it's the f'n raiders.
Dec. 18: Miami---biggest faggots out there.

How can you even watch sports? Are you immortal, that you have enough time to wait around for the Jets to lose a few straight seasons so that they can get a bunch of #1 picks, who are supposedly going to be golden saviors, and help the team go 16-0 once you're ready to see them win? Horrible attitude. Win now.

Why stop with one year? Imagine ten straight seasons without a win. How many great draft picks will we have loaded up on by then?

Of course, most of the players we draft will go to court before coming onto our sad sack all-for-nothing franchise, but they don't have JohnnyD's larger picture.

thats exactly what people said about the Rams a few years back when Kurt Warner was the starter after Trent Green got injured. How can you write off a season before it even starts?

If this would happen, that would mean we SUCK.

A draft next year won't make us playoff bound that year either.

I want to know we are going in the right direction after this year, and then

use the 2007 draft to get us back into playoff contention.

Going anywhere from 2-12 to 5-11 this year will make me very angry and upset.

Anywhere from 6-10 to 9-7 will let me know we are in the right direction.

Nooooo, what the hell kind of negative crap is this. This is a new season, a fresh start, right now I look it as we are tied for first.

You can go ahead and root for the team to lose if you'd like. Maybe you'll win Most Optimistic Poster next year. More like probably, now that I think about it. But don't expect many people to agree with you, because your rationale sucks.

Absolutely not... what a godawful way for Eric Mangini to begin his head coaching career. You turn heads by winning, not by having tremendous drafts. Repost this topic when we're 1-9.

I wait to rub sandpaper all over my face for relief around Week 10 or so, if necessary. Even then, I just cannot find it within myself to root for the Jets to lose. Holy Cr*p, I can't even believe I'm having this discussion. Or engaging it. When did GO JETS stop becoming GO JETS? Not in my house. Car. Livingroom. Seat. Whatever. I may as well take my season tickets and shove them up my own *ss.

I didn't root for the Jets to lose one game last year, I'm not about to start now.

I still predict no more than 4 wins this year, but that still isn't failure in my book. The key is for the pieces to come together this season. The line must gel, the secondary must settle into small rotations, not CB-by-committtee, the QB situation needs to show some promise, the RB position needs to start showing some future promise, etc.

Rooting for losses is the kind of mentality that makes the outlook so bleak so often around the Jets Nation. Why not hold out some faith? I know, I said I don't predict more than 4 wins, but every single one from 5 on will make me happy as a pig in shit. Do I believe it is impossible to make the playoffs this year? Nope. Do I think it will happen? Nope. Does that mean I can't have hope? Not in the least.

I am a old jet fan, I hate all the negative stuff that is posted here. I hate all the personal attacks on members that do not have as much football knowledge as the more frequent posters. The Jet fans that have posted in the "thousands" scare away guys like me who post just now and then. "HOW EVER," I cannot believe a Jet fan would ever think about losing all the games to gain draft picks. Hoy shit, I want my team to win them all, not lose them all. Godamn it, don't think about pissing away the season befor it even starts. Allentown Ernie.
