I'm sure every Jet fan had flashbacks to Doug Brien as Folk was lining up to kick that last FG. I know Folk hasn't exactly been Mr. Automatic this year but I can also imagine the elation you all felt as that kick sailed through the uprights to give you the win. Hats off to you on a well earned victory against a battle tested opponent on the road. Now comes the chance to shock the football world. I guarantee you no one in the media is going to give the Gang Green much of a chance against the Patriots. They would be wrong. Go back to your victory over them this year to figure out what went right. The keep away strategy you employed against Manning today is a good start. The less touches Brady gets, the better chance you guys will have. Enjoy it tonight Gang Green. You guys deserve it. Now go knock off the Pats and hopefully the Steelers and Jets can meet for the right to go to the dance.
No, this was tougher.....a shorter kick to win or lose the game. Brien's kick was makeable but long and the game was tied at the time. About 40% of beat writers picked the Jets over the Colts. Overall football writers....it was about 35% picked them. All sports writers, about 30%. The more you were closer to the teams, the more you liked the Jets -- even the Indy guys picked them. For the NE game, I suspect that only about 10%-15% of beat writers will pick the Jets.....single-digits for all football scribes.....and less than 1 in 20 overall will pick the Jets.
I'm pissed off at how much my girlfriend was laughing at me freak out during the last 2 minutes. That's how I'm feeling.
First off, 45-3 drubbing isn't exactly what the Jets are all about. Really, no. Leonhard, the defensive brain of the secondary, broke his leg and was placed on IR just a few days before the game - meaning quite a few part of the weekly preparation went dust with that injury, and Jets had to make a rag-tag replacement out of whoever they got at safety. Obviously, less than 2 days of preparation is not how you shut down Brady. It will be hard to go at them - they are Patriots for a reason - but it won't be as bad as it was during that disaster. Now, if Greene starts to find his groove *like he has this game* then Jets have a good chance, I'd say. It is still troubling that Jets offense cannot find the rhythm (defense held Manning-led offense to a mere 16 points, just enough for the win) but who knows? We will see if Jets offense can find some consistency down the road. Lastly, it feels damn good to beat Manning in a playoff. The way it's been set is that, Jets have to beat HoF caliber QBs three times in a row to get to the big dance (Manning - Brady - Roethlisberger, possibly). If they do, it would be a true testament to Ryan's genius in defense. Today was the first step. I will savor the win for the night.
Of course but at the same time, I'm sure the winner of that game would scare the fuck out of you since we both beat you in your house.
Sorry you wont see us,its not in the script. For the revenge tour to go as planned we meet the Ravens in two weeks.
I am a lot more confident of beating the Jets the second time around than the Patriots. Unlike the Colts....the Steelers can stop the run. The Patriots rely on dink and dunk passing which is kryptonite to the Steelers. That's why Brady has had so much success against them... Also I think the Steelers will be better prepared on kickoff coverage this time around.
No we've had our fill. I really want to play the Ravens that'd be the ultimate AFC championship game.
haha sorry bro, the jets would have gotten waxed in New England the week after anyway so really there's no revenge to be served by playing you guys this year
To be the best you have to beat the best. Beating the Patriots and then the 6 time Super Bowl Champs would be saying a lot.
