You should hate the call. Go for the high percentage pass. Get the 5 yards. The game's almost over. You're not trying to score. You're just trying to run the clock out. He hadn't been accurate downfield all game. The call made NO sense.
I have a feeling this is gonna be debated this next week, it's a good thing we won or everyone would be blaming this call. I'm on the fence, a better throw and this could have been a TD, but at that moment? We should have tried deep much earlier. Strange call all around.
I was so angry about that call. It was idiotic. Thank Cro for saving this game with that return. But that call was indefensible.
There is a difference between attacking and calling a play that has about a 25% or less chance of being completed - especially the way Sanchez was overthrowing those types of throws all night long. Anything would have been better. Personally I would have loved a play-action rollout with a run pass option for Sanchez.
That playcall alone may have been worse than anything Paul Hackett may have called during his entire tenure with the New York Jets.
I'm not a huge Xs and Os gal, but that was so strange! They had the lead, and if it were a TD it would still have been a 1 score game with stupid manning having lots of time on the clock. How can you defend the call??
