I think your missing the point, we would have 12,13 wins if gholston was suppose to do what he was suppose to do. we would be a true contender, if gholston wasnt a bust. all year long what have we heard? the jets cant generate any pass rush from the d-line, that was suppose to be gholston. seriously, not ONE FUCKING SACK in his career???????????????
Our lack of a pass rush might end up costing us that wildcard game, so it is only logical for people's anger to manifest against the man that was supposed to help in that area.
No I get the point just fine. This is a thread where we can dig up and beat the dead and buried horse once more for the hell of it. If you were expecting Gholston, who was moved to 3-4 DE prior to the season, to provide our pass rush this season then ya lawst!
I will say this, if he helps us win any playoff games i wont be so pissed at him. at the moment he has to be the biggest bust in jets history, no?
That's really saying something. To be mentioned in the same breath as such Jet greats as Blair Thomas, Jonny Lam Jones, Kyle Brady, Johnny Mitchell and DeWayne Robertson....that is really quite an achievement!! What shit luck we had to be sitting there with that 6th pick, Ryan, Jake Long and Chris Long off the board and the Pats sitting there right behind us. I almost feel that the Jets were in a no-win situation at that spot. In hindsight, trading down would have been the right thing to do.
My biggest fear is that he will go to another team and have a breakout year, becoming the player we had all hoped. On the flipside, if he pulls a Mo Lewis for one particular game as a Jet, would all be forgiven?
The closest Gholston will EVER get to an NFL QB is if he has lunch with Sanchez, Clemens, or Brunell.
If he can end Tom Brady's career, yes, it will all be worth it. Other than that, short of a monster post-season (at least 3 sacks and one play that seals the game), he's a bust. Sad that he has no instincts or recognition whatsoever. He's fits the classic description: Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.
I still can't get the image of him being unable to track down the fleet-footed Jay Cutler against Denver his rookie year. I never could figure out if it was shit or wads of money in his britches that slowed him down so much...
Remember the staged fight? heh, guess that didn't work. Didn't he say on hard knocks that he didn't feel that it was a make or break season?
Well if it makes you feel any better ... Mayo only has 3.5 in his career. Doesn't look like it killed the Pats too much, though.
I said it in another thread. Our lack of a pass rush may be the only thing keeping us from the super bowl. And if we dont make it to it, and win it its pretty much all this idiots fault. Well not totally. But it will be fun to place blame on one guy. And its Vern.
