He better be. The Jets used a high draft pick on him. I saw him play a number of times at Oregon and I was on the record saying I wanted the Jets to draft him, so I am pleased.
Looks good. From what I saw he: Finds the open man, throws away from the defense, seems to be on the same page as his receivers, makes good throws on the run, has a quick and accurate release, recognizes man to man or zone defense, throws to the open area leading his receivers perfectly and he runs when he needs to. Schotty should have no problem getting this guy up to speed. It looked like he had alot of time to throw in this video. Hope our O-Line holds up and does the same.
This article is nothing but preseason hype for a team that doesn't share any recent news with the press. I'll worry about the starter at QB for 2007 next preseason.
I don't think there is any question Kellen Clemens is the man in 2007 day one. They drafted him where they did for a reason. He will play in 2007 and might even get to play in 2006.
Ok...well this is how I see it. Chad Pennington is on a two year contract, but unless he plays better, hell stays healthy, he will be either released or asked to take another paycut. Patrick Ramsey will be gone after this season. We brought him in to compete and possibly start. This is an audition year for him and then he will head to Free Agency. Do you think either Chad or Ramsey are going to do well enough this season to be named the starter for 2007 and get a new contract? I don't think Chad is a superbowl QB anymore and I think this season will prove that. Kellen Clemens is a pretty smart guy and I think with the additions to the Oline he will be able to step in next year and do pretty good. Is that a better groundless prediction?
After minicamps, you think it's safe to assume that a rookie QB who has never even reported to actual training camp yet is a virtual lock to start in the NFL? That way of thinking has been proven wrong time and again. There have been MANY MANY players that show up great in TC and don't do jack when it matters. I am heartened by the news that Clemens appeared competent under center for the tiny window of publicity the press was allowed, but you can't judge a book by 10 pages. This, combined with the fact that he is the only QB on the roster without a number of games started, makes me believe that while Clemens may prove a fast learner this year, he has a while to go before he can prove himself a more competent solution to start. And let's get over the assumptions about Chad, nobody knows what he is going to do, and I find it quite pointless to count him out at this point. Get over your love of draft picks.
Did I ever say Clemens would succeed? All I said was that I "PREDICT" he will be the 2007 starter. Get over my love of draft picks? You want me to hate the ones I like? That made no sense.
And I never said you said that, and you know it, and you're trying to evade the point unsuccessfully. The point is that you are announcing with magnanimous grandiosity that you predict he will start. And that's fine, it's your opinion, although it's groundless, which is the truth. Which is what I said. Which you haven't proven untrue yet. Disagreeing is my right just as it is yours to make your bold predictions. Welcome to the exchange of ideas. Other people know what I mean, even if you don't.
I think he is the worst on WFAN. Very biased and cuts off callers who disagree with him or try to prove him wrong.
Unfortunately he did not make it. There are two stickied threads about this in the BS Forum: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=8071 http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=8083 You might notice a lot of people with nightowl tom sigs these days; those threads will explain why.
Klemens/ Chad Listen up fellas. I have seen the progress of Chad, Kellen, Patrick and Brooks over the past few weeks. Not to mention Mangini. And I am not even a Jets fan. The fact of the matter is, Chad is the first choice . . .IF HE CAN THROW THE BALL. The best looking QB has been Kellen . . . but looking good at Mini-Camp and looking good in front of a packed Meadowlands is WAY different. All this shit about Mangini going with the best player means NOTHING, because he wont know who the best player is until SEPT. 10. The only guy who is definitely mentally tough enough is Chad . . . the guy with the best arm is most likely Kellen. But the best arm adds up to . . . Jeff George. So root for Chad to gain the starting job. That is the ONLY chance for a surprising year. If you are thinking championship . . . hope that Kellen is the man . . . and have the patiebce to wait until 2009 . . . at best.
This could may be the real deal. If he wins the spot, then I say start him opening day in 06. But only if he is truly superior to the others.
