If only we had a Healthy Big Jenks back and another DE that could help assist Ellis, even with our sometimes inept offence Im not sure we would've lost a single game with this sort of help. However thats just not the case and with as good as our secondary is and their coverage seems to be solid for the most part but with enough time WR's are going to get open time and time again.
This has plagued us all year and we have had alot of other issues like Sanchez being a 2nd year QB and looking like it at times, WR's dropping a lot of balls, break down in coverages and our most recent decline of the running game. But the lack of a pass rush seems to let teams back into games when they should be shutout (sunday after a 21 unanswered points), and I think this problem would be very much apparent like it was in the 2nd Patriots game if we didn't have such a good secodary and linebacker core. All year the only way we've been able to cause pressure is to dial up overload schemes using confusion leaving linebackers on WR's and multiple guys in single coverge, and we're getting burnt doing so.

My question is no matter where we go this year what moves do you think we could make to bring in a prolific pass rusher or 2?

If we can draft a big time pass rusher or two we can be very great next season. If Sanchez can play like this consistently we will be a winning team for years to come.

Lets get through this post season first though.

Would we have lost 0 games? Probably not. The offense was responsible for 3 of those loses.

However, the pass rush is this team's weakest link at this point. A weak link that may prove to be costly.

Yes we have a pass rush problem but we do lead the NFL in 3 and outs. Look for Rex to go up with new blitz packages he didn't show everything during the reg season. We can beat anybody in the nfl.

I don't mind the thread, despite the obvious observations.

But, please, use your <enter> key now and then...

I would draft at least two within the first three rounds, and if we can get any free agents, the more the merrier. IMO, the lack of a pass rush, without bring 6 or 7, is the biggest fault with this team.

It will be hard to draft a big time pass rusher. You've got to be very lucky (and good) to draft a good pass rusher late in the first round, let alone in the second or third (and the Jets will only have one second or third round pick).

Addressing pass rush through the draft. That kid we spent a top 10 draft pick on two years ago. He was supposed to be a sack machine. Whatever happened with him?

Super fast and super strong, but no lateral movement, no football instincts, and, apparently, no heart.

I think it's because teams has figured out how to block our third down one side loaded blitz.

you hit the nail on the head--get rid of bryan thomas and put westerman in there or bring back marques murrell or SOMEBODY, ANYBODY who get around the cormer--Look at the good 3-4 teams and they have a guy blazing around the end--not the jets.

Tis the tale of reaching for a player in the early rounds to address a team need on draft day.
