Why is resting the starters even being considered?

Because resting individual players who need it - is quite different and can in no remote way be compared to having a bye, or longer to prepare for the team as a whole.

Players get banged up all the time and miss a game here or there. They take the time to recover and come back. Look at Aaron Rodgers this week.

You really need to quit starting threads and just go away. I probably made a mistake by even replying to your garbage.

They played good teams when they had extra rest.

The opponents had more to do with the Jets having some problems than did the extra rest.

I hope that you never fall into a position of power during your life.

And what if we get a significant injury to some players in the game? Then what happens?

First of all, Jacksonville could be the opponent (it's unlikely, though).

I do not believe the Jets will win or lose to KC, IND, or JAC based upon how much they may rest their starters in Week 17. There's only so much restin' they can do anyway as only 45 players dress for games. The resting of starters is an overrated concept. We're only talking about a handful of players here who may potentially spend a lot of time on the sideline next Sunday.

He starts a thread saying Rex is an idiot for playing his starters in a meaningless game.

If Sanchez shoulder is even a little sore, he needs the week off.

Play like a 3rd preseason game, completely rest certain guys, but ones who are ok bring em out to keep the blood flowin and at a certain point put in the relievers.

We still have something to play for next week. A Ravens win and a Steelers loss gives us an opportunity to win the #5 seed, therefore the starters will play.

That's no reason to risk Sanchez. The Jets are in. You really think Rex cares about whether he plays the Chiefs or Colts? If he did in fact care, he'd probably rather be the 6 and play KC.

No, I don't think he cares if we play the chiefs or colts. Whether we win or lose we could still face either one at the #5 or #6 seed depending on what takes place around the league. However, I bet he cares about the possibility of avoiding NE in round 2 and an outside shot of hosting the AFCCG.

Since u posted the exact same question in the Buffalo/Jets discussion thread, I'll post my exact same response

    a) we're gonna have to get over that hump eventually, might as well have it be now

    b) our starting QB has a bum shoulder, our best receiver has turf toe, our best defensive player has had hamstring issues all year pretty much

    c) we're gonna have to get over that hump eventually, might as well have it be now
