NFL.com had a note on this morning saying that points would be altered and games altered if need be. Would be interesting to see how many teams in Fantasy land have been denied a go in their Superbowl as a result of this.
It's not the first time they've changed stats. As long as the outcome of the game isn't affected, they'll do that. I like it because if the dude only rushed for 99 yards, then he only rushed for 99 yards.
I won my fantasy football league because Mendenhall had 100 yds. 1 less yard made me lose a point, therefore instead of winning 103-102 it was tie. My opponent had the better record therefore he wound up winning the league. So instead of winning 1500 I don't win anything. Ok, just kidding. But you know someone out there lost a fantasy league because of that late scoring change.
I think its funny that the NFL has no problem going back and changing a measly rushing yard but the MLB couldn't relook at that lousy safe call on the perfect game earlier in the year. Just goes to show you NFL > MLB
Bahahahaha. Hopefully this gives that fuck Mark Madden the heart attack he's been working on over the course of his career.
they change stats every week to get things right see 1983 playoff game against Cinn. McNeil credited with 209 yards originally.... after tape review by the league -- reduced to 202 yards - not a playoff record happens every week mendenhall didn't run for 100 because the amateur insurance salesmen NFL officials got it wrong (as they do dozens of times every week every year) it is the price in competence and integrity that the NFL pays to use per-diem amateurs and avoid professional officials (and their resultant NFL Officials Union)
I think the change came in very late. The playoff games (or the next playoff game) was probably on its way by the time the change had been announced. Most of the changes come in by Wednesday if not Tuesday. I believe this one came out on Friday, after the Steelers/Panthers game was already played.
I did when he got the 100 yards. I still do, and Im pretty sure there are a bunch of Jets fans that were happy to see this. He clearly didn't get a 100 yards, so why credit him with 100 yards for a simple mistake by the officials?
