I'm talking about the "wall". If you look at the Jets wall were any of those players active (or players at all)? From the pictures you showed of the Patriots it looked like active players ready to go in. Again. Maybe they shouldn't have been there based on the rule but it's a different scenario then what the Jets did. No?
First off, not all ot the Pats' players in those pics are defensive players. Secondly, they are not in some instances positioned where they would expect to start the next series of downs. They are at the wrong end of the coach's box for that. This is rididulous. So many teams in the NFL have been doing it that it's laughable. Westoff did no more than mention the Pats do it too. That is deserving of a freakin investigation? Please.
was this not explained in another thread? the rule calls for situational substitutes only are all those players getting ready to go out on the field? if not then illegal
Whats going to happen? Westhoff will get fined? he doesnt give two shits. He'll rip the fine up. Goodell is a bitch being controlled by the money.
Man, It seems like every fanbase feels like they are getting picked on. Come on , man up. The guy tripped the player. No big deal, let's move on. Really, conspiracy, cheating, paying off refs? Lets just play the game. You win, you win. You lose, you lose. Believe it or not, teams do lose because they werent the better team. Let's grow up and take our lumps. We're not 10 yr olds. It's just a game.
Sticks and stones....LOL. I dont blame you. That's cool, no prob. I hope we win, but if not, I have very good friends who are jets fans and I'll be happy for them. Not too happy, but..LOL
Goodell: "So, Bob....I'm thinking that Westhoff should be banned from a playoff game or two and maybe take away a #2 draft pick.....nah, too high....my wife works for FoxNews, don't want them to look around and investigate this....let's call it a #3 pick. How's that sound?" Kraft: "Sounds good Rog.....BTW, I saw Chucky on ESPN talking about the Tuck Game....couldn't keep from laughing. HEY !!! Did you see that ? That Defensive End just breathed on Brady....whatcha gonna do about that ???" Goodell: "Don't worry.....$50,000 fine and a warning to the officials to make sure nobody breathes on Brady unless their mouths are minty-fresh."
It's quite likely that this has been a rule that hasn't really been enforced. I didn't even know it was a rule myself. It's quite likely that there were players there that shouldn't have been. I think I said that. I think if you look at the pictures of the two teams my comment that the "setup" by the Patriots and that by the Jets looks very different still stands.
A wall is a wall, it is just semantics. I don't see why the Pats give a shit. If the players made a wall, they did not trip anyone. Shit nobody would have known or cared, if that idiot (Alosi) didn't stick his knee out. I am sure if you videoed all the well coached special teams, you would find the majority made a wall or did something questionable along the sidelines. The Jets got caught for being idiots about it............
I don't think there is any question that the Jets wall looks quite setup and likely planned. The Patriots wall could actually be something else. No doubt. I guess the Patriots don't like being pointed out as the league bad boys any time another team screws up. As a way of diffusing their own embarassment perhaps? Enjoy the spotlight.
Wrong the rule has always been there. Look at the pictures why are only the line lined up? where are the dbs receivers a qb or two? Your theory while may be practical in your mind fails the reality test. next you will tell me Belle never tried to trip Harrison or did you miss that too? here is the video proof http://nfl-facts-and-rumors.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22475988/26479678 Now both are just as guilty of being stupid. now where is your outrage about this? Which is more blatant?
Maybe Goddell will give Westhoff the same treatment that he's giving Brett F'n Farve by dragging his feet on the "investigation"..
Active players waiting to be subbed in can stand in that box by the sideline, as well as coaches (all the NE pictures above). That's what that marked area is for. INactive players are not supposed to be there (the Jets 'wall'). Westoff investigation = NFL telling him to STFU with regard to implying that there is widespread cheating going on in the league. Basically, 'don't try and impune more of the league because of your guy Alosi's act". Its probably more for the 'next guy' than it is for him.
Belichick is absolutely trying to interfere with Harrison getting back on the field but tripping? No, a complete stretch. Forget the Belichick video, that's just Jets fans grasping for straws. Forget the trip by the Jets coach, that's noise. Compare the two pictures shown in this thread. I think the Jets picture shows a well established line by the Jets staff. Are those players, coaches? They certainly don't look to be active players. It sure looks setup and planned to me. Are any Jets fans going to deny that? Hmm? When you look at the pictures of the Patriots you see a lot of players at the line. Are they active players ready to go on the field of play? Maybe it was just players and coaches on the Patriots watching the game and forgetting (or being unware) of the rule against it. Maybe the Patriots were actually setting up a wall like Jets fan here would like to believe. I say you can't tell. I say it's very hard to determine what the Patriots were actually doing. You don't have that problem when you look at the Jets photo. You don't need a magnifying glass when looking at the Jets photos. Do you?? Here's the best example I can think of. A person gets stopped for exceeding the speed limit. The drivers complains to the officer that others were speeding as well. (and maybe they were) As a result the driver also gets tagged for an out of date registration and a turn signal that's faulty. Oh the outrage.
Jets management starts to back peddle. Smart, very smart. http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-.../jets-owner-apologizes-to-kraft-for-wall-talk
