For those unhappy with The Rex and wondering if we should've kept mangini, this is a copy/paste from nbcsports. I feel bad for mangini but glad we got The Rex. Speculation increases about Mangini’s future in ClevelandPosted by Gregg Rosenthal on December 20, 2010, 1:52 PM EST Don’t tell Browns coach Eric Mangini that December games are meaningless for losing teams. Last year, a four-game winning streak to close the season saved Mangini’s job. This season, back-to-back losses to the Bills and Bengals have folks in Cleveland believing that Mangini could be on his way out. Marla Ridnour of the Akron Beacon-Journal believes that “not even a split” of the Browns’ final two games would save Mangini’s job. Dennis Manoloff of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer also believes the entire coaching staff will be gone unless the Browns win the last two games. (The same paper said last week Mangini needed to win two of their final three games for him to stay.) Rookie quarterback Colt McCoy partially blamed the team’s effort for the loss. “It’s our division — you’ve got to get hyped up. I thought early on we lacked a little bit of energy — we lacked a little bit of intensity,” McCoy said. The Browns gave up 188 yards rushing, and only had one rushing first down on offense. Essentially, the Browns looked like the opposite of what we’ve come to expect from a team that has mostly played better than their 5-9 record indicates. Once again, the team’s December play may decide Mangini’s January fate. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...i-on-shoulder-expects-to-play-sunday/related/
I feel bad for Mangini, the Browns up until the last two weeks have played very well against teams they should have been crushed by and they beat the Pats. They very easily could have 2 or 3 more wins. If I'm Holmgren I give him one good year. He's got a good eye for talent and his coaching has not been awful. He took over a bad team and has made them respectable, now the last two weeks have been bad.
I feel really bad for Mangini. His team has minimal talent on both sides of the ball, yet they've found a way to win 5 games, plus be in a lot of other games that came down to the last drive. If I were Holmgren I would give him another year, but its a 'wins business' so I can easily see him being let go.
Mangini has that team on the brink of being a contender. I could see Holmgren (or Holmgrum as Francesa calls him) stepping in and taking over and then getting all the credit.
I'm pleased that we upgraded Tubby Jets HC ver. 1.0 to Tubby Jets HC ver. 2.0, and I don't have the least bit of sympathy for the glitches in Tubby Browns HC ver. 2.2. It's the Lotus of tubby head coaches.
If all the coaches get fired maybe.... just maybe rob will join his brother rex in ny, a long shot considering he didn't the first time, but hey you never know.
i'm hoping for the same thing... Rob coming over to the jets. but what would we do with mike pettine? there is also a rumor that gruden might take over the browns... does he keep rob ryan or bring in his own personel?
if they fire him, they're a bunch of morons. he has a bunch of no names on both sides of the ball and the team has played close games all season. even in the beginning of the season when they lost, they had a lead in the 4th quarter everytime. they played really close games against the ravens, falcons, us and a few other playoff teams. not to mention beating the saints and pats if it wasn't for jake delhomme sucking balls and mccoy starting from teh beginning/not getting injured, they'd be an .500 team. jake delhomme is garbage fuck holmgren if he fires mangini
Mangini had the team playing hard this season. They were in alot more games than they should have. Name their recieving corps? QB? Come on. He did the best with what he has. Now it's up to Holmgren to provide the missing piece.
Considering the level of talent he has to work with, I really think Eric Mangini has done a very good job this season.
I'm with ya on this. The Browns are quickly beceoming a physical team on both sides of the ball who can win close games. They have a rookie QB who is making plays and doing well. With out him they have been a mess. I think its a bit unfair that he'll probly get the boot this off season, but thats life in the NFL.
Mangini needs to be fired. He should have been fired last year. Last game he went for the field goal twice instead of going for it on 4th and short. Costed him last weeks game. He also stopped letting Rob Ryan (Rex's brother) make defensive calls. Mangini was doing the signs for defensive himself!!! He is an aweful head coach. He should be a defensive coach instead. His players hate playing for him, no motivation, works them too hard, he is just aweful. Fire him now.
