THANK YOU! This is what I was thinking as I read his post. Not saying Taylor is the most awesome ever, but I don't think you can take away his credit from that Pats game. It was an important sack!
Nope for teh production we could have signed someone long term. either way blah. Nice safety yes but did t win us the game can't say for sure. I dislike the fact we gave up Feely (I know a kicker) that punted and kicked our way into the championship game and how do we thank him by signing a piece of crap that time said he would rather retire then play for us. Don't preach team and unity and then send someone away for a supposed fix that is not really a fix but more of a band aid and blah one at that. One can argue if Feely was kicking this year he may have one 2 games for us Baltimore and Green-bay (I know we lost by more then a fg there but if the kicker makes those kicks he had different game).
It's truly difficult to argue with you. Let me get this straight. A 36 yrs old OLB playing for less than $2mil, who has won us a couple of games, is 2nd on the team with two forced fumbles behind Coleman, is one sack away from leading the team in sacks AND first in pass defensed amongst all LBs and DLs is a huge disappointment. OK...did I mention hes one of the 7 players in the league with a safety?
It's common sense, NE would have needed to finish off that drive which could have taken another 30 secs to a minute then force a 3 and out then score another TD. NE hadn't moved the ball all 2nd half and now they were going to score 2 TDs in the final 4 minutes. Was it possible? of course, was it probable? no. The odds were very slim they could do that and even if they could we were still up 14 pts late in the game, the sack was a nice play it was not a huge play like Sunday. The play the other day was w/ a 3 pt lead and the opponent possessing the ball- THAT was a HUGE spot. It's difficult to argue w/ me b/c you can't get away w/ BS that is easy to get away w/ when arguing w/ others. Stop w/ the BS that he has won us a couple of games, he helped us win the other day. That was his first true big play all year. 2 FF in GARBAGE time. leading the team in sacks w/ FOUR! that is pathetic. rex was telling us he'd have double digit sacks and he's not even halfway to double digits. Again, it's not all about the sack #, he is invisible as a pass rusher. if he was generating pressure on a somewhat consistent basis it would be ok but he is invisible as a pass rusher. Once again- he was brought in here as a pass rusher and he has been virtually invisible all year as a pass rusher. he has one legitimate semi-big sack, that's not a good ratio. he's been good against the run and b/c he cannot generate any pass rush he has been good at batting passes down but those areas are not what he was brought here to do. I am rooting for him, I hope he can do something in the passing game, I was thrilled he finally made a big play the other day but let's stop kidding ourselves that he has been what we expected or more importantly what the coaches expected.
None of our guys have the savvy to get sacks on a consistant basis Pace was brought in to get sacks also plus he gets paid more than Tayor who is here for pure desire might I add...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that JT has made more impact plays(3) to win games than anyone else on the defense. The man is healthy and he's making a difference HELL OF A FOOTBALL PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!
Change that 3 to a 1 and pace has been hurt most of the year, he broke his foot and missed the first month and clearly isn't the same guy since coming back. He made a difference for the first time in a true big spot on Sunday, let's not re-write the season and act like he has been doing this all year.
I was expecting what the Jets were when they signed him- to be able to help our pass rush and he has not done that.
Thank you. If anyone expected Taylor to come in here and play like Peppers or Cameron Wade, that person is simply delusional or has no understanding of what it means to be a 36 year old pass rusher in the NFL.
Who expected that and where are those posts? I keep hearing how he was brought in as a part time player, he's "only" making $2 million but we had to let go of the best K we have ever had which has weakened our kicking game and he was expected to be a majot factor rushing the passer. No he was not expected to have 15 sacks but is putting pressure on the QB once in a while too much to ask for a guy that was brought here as a situational pass rusher to help improve our pass rush?
I don't want to beat a dead horse, but I believe the Patriots sack was huge...I went nuts when it happened and was DEFINITELY still nervous about the game. Against any other team, that isn't a big play, but against Brady and the Patriots, who make a living off of winning games like those? That play was gigantic.
Who else were they going to get? You must admit the pass rush was anemic without him, they made a move they thought would be the best possible solution considering the options out there and the free agency rules. It hasn't worked out great, but he has four sacks, two forced fumbles, five passes defended and 31 tackles and a safety last week. Nothing to write home about, but the gas tank is almost empty on this guy.
junc has built his house of cards, no matter how many times you blow it down he will re-stack the deck and act as if it never happened. Don't waste your time.
They took a gamble on the move and Sunday was the first time it really paid off though it wasn't in a pass rush situation. I am happy w/ Jason in every area besides rushing the passer but that is what he was brought here to do so overall he has been a disappointment.
Yo guys crack me up, we were up FOURTEEN POINTS w/ just over 4 mins to play. It was a good play but it did not win us a game, it clinched the game but the chances are we are winning w/ or w/o that play but you guys need to justify every move we made in the offseason so you will pretend he has made a bunch of big plays when in fact his first REAL big play came on Sunday at Pitt.
You expected more and that is your stance. Nothing I can say to that. I just didn't expect more than 6-8 sacks from him as a part time player. He has made two big plays to date.
He's made two huge plays at the end of games - in the Steelers and Pats* games. I'll take that kind of contribution from him, because that's all I was expecting. I wasn't expecting a every down dominating end.
I don't even like the move. I hate Folk and Taylor looks like the old man he is out there most of the time. He's been able to use his smarts to make some big plays but I'd rather see a guy like Westerman getting those snaps to be honest. Keep telling people his big plays weren't big because it suits your argument though. It's fun to read.
