Exactly!!! So many of the Jets moves have just reeked of desperation or wanting to make a big splash in the headlines. It began with Favre and then continued with... 1. Trading up for Sanchez 2. Trading picks for Jenkins 3. Trading picks for Edwards 4. Trading picks for Cromartie 5. Trading picks for Holmes I mean those are all arguably good players who have helped win a bunch of games but other than Sanchez, how many will be on the team and contributing 2 years from now. Even with the Sanchez pick, you wonder why the Jets took such a risk to pick a kid with so little College experience. Josh Freeman likely would have been available at their original draft position.
has anyone considered Jets draft picks lack of performance a COACHING issue and not a talent issue......yelling at people does not motivate them...especially when the check is cashed
I find fault only the Jason Taylor/Feely/Folk part. If we wind up giving up a 2nd for one year of cromatie I will be furious. The other trades were fine. I find fault in Tannenbaum forcing Schotty Jr on Rex two years ago and not letting him hire a real OC that fits his mentality.
Stop saying things that make sense. This sir, is the internet, and everybody knows that you are not supposed to make sense on the internet. We miss TJ, Tanny is stupid, LT is old, and we don't have any chance at making the playoffs....9-4 is the same as 1-12.
We saved $11 million by cutting Feely. This guy had been money for the Jets. He even stepped in last year and punted for us like a pro when Wheaterford went down with heart murmurs or something. With the exta cash sign Father Time Taylor. Maybe Abe Vigoda is available next season. Now we have Folk who we're affraid to use. The Thomas Jones move also still makes me nauseous. Okay, maybe TJ was a breaking down. A.) we lost a huge leader in Jones. B.) Why didn't we try to sign someone a bit younger than Tomlinson. I have really enjoyed rooting for LT, he's a class act and it's been cool seeing him in green and white but, he's only averaging 2.2 yards a pop now and it's extremely frustrating.
Just because you can't perceive or articulate where Tannenbaum falls short of perfection doesn't mean he doesn't. The post you quoted failed to address several raised here criticizing Tanny. then you set up a straw man with that comparing records nonsense. If you want to address the points made, please do so, if and when you are ready.
Mcknight has been given zero chance. a rookie corner doesnt always click. Faneca, and Jones are more of pump up people, but LT has taken over that role. performance wise LT is being used wrong. fuck jay feely. edit: btw god forbid tanny fucks up. guy has given us complete GOLD.
Absolutely. Tanny has been pure gold, which of course hurts him in the eyes of the fans. If he makes a mistake, they want to kill him, because he is always right, any mistake you make is magnified a thousand fold. By dropping Faneca and Jones it gave us some more money to help get our core four signed. Tanny managed to resign 3 of 4 already, which is huge, because we have almost a new "core 4" of guys we need to try and resign, with Harris, Cro, Holmes and Edwards.
also, if this is the worst offseason of Tanny's career, I think we can all live with bringing in Cromartie, Holmes, and LT. Getting Revis, Brick and Mangold signed. Drafting at least 1 future starter in John Conner (in the 5th round) a future rotational back in Mcknight, and obviously a project G/T prospect in Vlad, and K-Dub, while others have lost faith, I think he will be just fine in the long run. God our offseasons kick ass thanks to Tanny
1 we needed a franchise QB and took forever to get one. Moving up for sanchez was a great move regardless of how he turns out 2 We needed a 3-4 NT and jenks came available for a 3rd rounder i believe. he made the pro bowl for us that year. That was also 3 eyars ago during mangini 3 We had a rookie QB with nobody to throw to. outside of cochery we had stucky and brad smith as the 2 and 3. he needed a big target to bail him out. we got Edwards for 2 back-up players and a 3rd and 5th rounder 4 we got killed last year due to depth at CB by indy in the AFC champ game. we traded a pick and got a #1 type 5 w/o holmes were probably 6-6-1 right now. Losses to Det, hou and tie with cleveland
Tanny's been fine and we're lucky to have him. The mission this year was to go further in the playoffs than last year, and get to a SB. The moves he made this off season were made to get there. It might not work out, but he gave it a shot.
Yup. The team is struggling now cus they're not getting it done on the field, not cus of the way the team is constructed. The offense needs to get their head out of their asses. This team also made it to the AFC title game. Patience, people. LOL.
I think he's a great GM, but my argument was that he just had his worst offseason. I never claimed it was a bad offseason. I merely said it did not measure up to his previous ones. Blame the lack of a running game on LT or Slauson... either way, both of them were pegged by Tannenbaum to be starters and he deserves blame if either of them is responsible for the struggles of the running game.
And he needs to stop trading away picks for the big splash this offseason. We need to start adding more depth. I'm not criticizing moving up for Revis, Harris, etc or trading away picks for Holmes, Jenkins, and Cromartie, but there comes a point where the lack of picks comes back to bite you in the ass. Perhaps the worst job he did was with the running game. Replacing TJ with LT is one thing, but dealing away Leon, then drafting a subpar replacement for him, and then keeping the subpar replacement over Danny Woodhead and a respectable Chauncey Washington. If Greene or LT go down, we'll be stuck with a real horrible player having a significant role.
Agreed, we're better than last year, which is the #1 goal of the off-season, and we're in contention which is where we wanted to be. There's not much any GM can do about New England going 14-2 or wherever they end up, if there was it would have been done long ago. We didn't have to give them a key player but that aside, you can't blame Tannenbaum if we go 12-4 or 11-5 and end up a Wild Card again. Some things are out of your control, we did split with New England, too.
What does that mean? Another annoying thing are these sunshiner Jets fans patronizing and acting so condescending when Jets fans are critical of the team. Give it a rest already guys.
How are we better than last year? Because 9-4 > 7-6? We aren't better than last year. We ranked first in rushing and defense last year. It gave us reason for hope because we could overcome Sanchez's struggles with dominance in those areas. The rushing game has taken a step back and the defense isn't really very good at all. Sanchez WAS progressing, which made the running and defense's decline easier to swallow. Now he's back to being the same QB he was last year, which makes the entire team worse than the 2009 edition. No doubt in my mind about that. Things can still change, though, I realize this.
