Other than Cincinnati who just fell apart at the end of last year (and whose defense wasn't as good as it showed statistically anyways), has Sanchez ever beaten a top 7 defense team?
He's beaten the Patriots defense twice. I don't know what their stats were at the times, but I would consider the fact that this is a division rival that knows them well I think you can call that beating a good defense. I think you have to consider his two playoff wins significant too. Besides that I can't really think of anytime (off the top of my head, mind you) that Sanchez went up against a dominant defense and put forth a strong game.
Has Sanchez regressed? Yes he has. But he did so last year too and he was able to get his head back together and put on an impressive run in the playoffs. We got to have faith in the kid. Hes a leader, he"ll recover. That being said Shotty must go bottom line. Shotty is a cancer, we will not win the super bowl with him calling the plays.
2009 1. Jets 2. Packers 3. Ravens 4. Bengals 5. Steelers 6. Vikings 7. Broncos Played against #4 Begals twice, 2-0 2010 1. Chargers 2. Giants 3. Jets 4. Steelers 5. Dolphins 6. Vikings 7. Ravens Played against #5 Dolphins twice, 1-1 Played against #6 Vikings, 1-0 Played against #7 Ravens 0-1 Overall record against top 7 defenses in his first 2 years (4-2)
If I were to rank the defenses that the jets have faced this season it would look as follows: *I'm going to exclude NE... don't feel like arguing how good they are over and over again Green Bay (L) Baltimore (L) Miami (one W, one L) Detroit (W) Minnesotta (W) Cleveland (W) Buffalo (W) Denver (W) Cincinnati (W) Houston (W) I would put GB, Baltimore, Miami in the top 7 (along with pitt, nyj, chicago, SD) So in that respect Sanchez would be 1-3 this season. To round out the top 10, I would add NO, NYG, Minn. In that respect Sanchez would be 2-3. I don't feel like looking back at last season, so that is my two cents
