yeah I would love to see what you would say if the Jets traveled with intentions of playing a game in Miami and a hurrican tore apart the stadium. Now they the "home" teams accomodations have blown in its fair game. THIS GAME SHOULD NOT I REPEAT NOT BE PLAYED in NJ, but to suggest the Giants have no say in this matter now is just stupid.
As long as its played inide in a dome it shouldn't matter to either team. But the inside part is a must since the Giants didn't travel with any winter gear.
I almost hope they play the game in NJ just to hear the crying that will happen if they do. Maybe you think the Giants have no say, but the Vikes owner has stated he has been in discussions with the league and the Giants so they can create a solution that best suits each team. So I guess Zygi Wilf agrees.
Speaking of weather, good grief the Pats/Bears game is going to be a mess. Shitty field to begin with, heavy snow, windy, cold as hell. This is a game I'd never bet on.
Any Jets at Dolphins game that had to be moved from Miami, should be played elsewhere in Florida. I would not want the Jets to have an unfair advantage. You stick around, buddy, and you'll see I'm not one of those ridiculous homer fans.
My guess is with chartered flights the Giants could get as much winter gear as they needed by tomorrow morning. It has stopped snowing in Minnesota.
Heres the thing about that 2005 Saints/Giants game, the Saints were awful, they could have played that game in Jim Hasletts backyard and they were not winning...I did not agree with it then, but in reality the Saints were screwed from day 1 that year. As for this game, if Minnesota wants a dome thats fine....it appears its looking more and more like Detroit at this point.
The Saints did not go 0-16 that year. The Giants were 3-4 on the road that season. If that game was played at a neutral site, there is no guarantee that the Giants would have won.
Ed Werder said the Vikes wanted to play outdoors at the university's stadium, the Giants wanted to play inside in the dome in Detroit. Not a shock, as the Vikings would want their home town fans there (albeit at a reduced capacity) and the Giants claim they don't have cold weather equipment (although, it wouldn't be all that difficult to fly it in today to Minn.) and as I said on another thread - no way, given the Giants habit of putting the ball on the ground, would they even want to play outside in this weather - especially on such short notice. Apparently, the outdoor stadium in Minneapolis wasn't ready due to the gap since the last college game, and Detroit it is. Giants catch a break.
The Giants were 11-5, the Saints were 3-13....only solution at that point was a neutral site or the one they made. I am very confident in saying had the 2005 NYG played the 2005 NO Saints 10 times the Giants would win 9....Saints were awful....Giants lost that year The Giants lost that year @ SD, @ Dallas, @ Philly and @ Washington with Philly being the only losing team they lost to on the road...conversely when they played what I will call "bad" teams such as the 2005 Saints, they played @ 4-12 San Fran and won and @ 4-12 Oakland and won so I am pretty confident they would have beaten the 3-13 Saints based on what occured that season.
...and 9 out of 10 times, the Patriots would have won Super Bowl 42. I agree that in 2005 the Giants were much better than the Saints. However, you cannot guarantee that the Giants would have defeated the Saints in a neutral site.
Pats win SB 42 5 of 5, that O line could not block that front 4 on its best day. I hear you on this, but I just do not think it was all that big a deal as it was made out to be and I certainly never got the feeling towards the Giants like they had something to do with that...
If you think 3 cities in 2 days and now a shorter week to prepare for what will be the biggest game of the season is a break then I want what you are drinking!
Free tickets if anyone's in Detroit to see an NFL game.. According to the Vikings, anyone with tickets to the original game at the Metrodome will be admitted to the game and given preferential seating near the 50-yard line. Otherwise, general admission tickets will be free and available at the Ford Field ticket office starting 9 a.m. ET Monday.
what an absolute sham that they moved this to detroit. absolutely a sham. i find it hard to believe unless they resodded the gophers stadium or started redoing brand new stuff that they could not hold this game there tomorrow. and the idea that a professional football team that makes millions of dollars a year couldnt find a way to get cold weather clothing in 30 hours is preposterous. this is just more proof that the nfl is a league run by sissys. oh and brett favre needs to be put out to pasture. how can anyone stand hearing this douche say anything anymore?
^^ Of course the Giants are playing dumb. Any team would try to get any advantage it can get. Not their fault that a bunch of 6th graders designed the Metrodome. It snows in Minnesota? Really? Orly?
Don't buy that the University of Minnesota which has not housed a professional game would have a hard time clearing 4 feet of snow in -25 degree wind chills on a field that has been shut down for the winter huh?
