If Plan B is Montero for Greinke I'll kill Cashman before Don has the chance.

Montero for Greinke is a fucking joke. I'm starting to think the Yankees aren't gonna get Lee.

Ditto, but I don't think that would happen.

Why didnt the Yanks make a move on Crawford? Boston has locked it up this year. Thats the best lineup I've ever seen.

I like the Yankees outfield. I don't think they should pay someone not to play for the enemy either.

It's a good lineup, but the best ever? Come on, really? The top five are good (Crawford, Pedroia, Gonzalez, Youkilis, Ortiz), but the rest is nothing to write home about. I mean, Ellsbury, Scutaro, Varitek, and Drew might not be black holes (or then again, some of them might), but that bottom four doesn't have me thinking it's the best lineup ever... it's only marginally improved from last year.

And as far as I know, the Yanks did meet with Crawford, although it was probably just to drive up the price for Boston. Crawford is not a need for the Yanks. They would have needed to have a trade in place to make that move.

Much improved, but i don't know about the best ever. I still feared Oritz/ramirez back to back in it's prime more.

Why? Montero is a good prospect who is no guarantee to hit in the bigs, and definitely no guarantee to stick behind the plate. Greinke is an established top 5 pitcher in all of baseball.

I know that everybody likes to see their prospects develop, but passing on Montero for Greinke if it were offered would be lunacy.

In reality, the deal would be closer to Montero + Banuelos + another midlevel prospect, which may be a little much. But if there was a chance to trade Jesus for Greinke straight up you take it.

And anyway, I'm not sure why everybody is so sure that Lee isn't coming here. Because Texas' cokehead manager has a gut feeling? Because Jack Curry heard from an anonymous source? Come on.

If it comes down to years and money, and it usually does, then the Bombers are in good shape.

    OK, that's a fair point.

From a pure value perspective though, Greinke dwarfs Montero.

I saw that and nearly shit myself... as a Mets fan can you say playing for 3rd place every year? I'm amazed that a franchise as historically inept as the Phillies have finally gotten it. If they sign Lee it's a pretty insane rotation. I still don't see any reason why they traded him last year as I think they certainly had the potential to keep he and still get Halladay.
