Sanchez has hit a bit of a rough patch these last couple weeks (was not good vs. Cin, awful vs. NE) but his body of work this entire season suggests he's a much improved QB than a year ago. Brian has a proven track record as a QB coach and works on a daily basis with Sanchez. You're gonna tell me he had nothing to do with his development? Really? I'm not saying Brian is a great OC at all but he's been instrumental in the development of Sanchez.
That's what I'm saying. No more damn gimmicks. The long standing good teams don't use gimmicks, they don't wait till week 13 to start using the hurry up. Do what we do, stay the course, play stout defense, and bring home a win. Too many getting hung up on style points. A win's a win. The 2000 Ravens had some of the ugliest games I ever saw, but they did their thing.
So am I wrong, or are these all of the same people calling the pats cheaters, and a week ago calling McDaniels the evil cheating spawn of Bill BeliDevil? Now all of a sudden you guys want these type on your team?
If you're not cheating, you're not trying. And this is all moot anyway, McDaniels would never take a job with the Jets.
Why not? I don't get the sense that there is a long line of teams awaiting his talents. Then again maybe I'm wrong.
If you need it explained to you then you are probably too far into the Schotty sucks mindset for anyone to ever change your mind so I won't put much effort into this. Anyone that watched Sanchez play all last season and has watched him play all of this season would be able to see an improvement in every area of his game. If you want to write that improvement off to keep blindly hating the OC go for it. If you want to look at it like a normal person you would see that there is room for praise in this area while still being annoyed at his play calling.
What has he done good w/ Mark? Let's seeeeeee....um. -Had Mark write a list of goals. -Makes sure Mark doesn't over celebrate. K, so now we got a Debbie Downer holding a fukin Bucket List Yep, she's a keeper!
Its not the worst idea I've ever heard. In the three loses (all after lengthy time off), they managed "4" freakin field goals. Hit the road, Schotty...
What has McDaniels done since he moved out of Belechek's shadow. Nada. He totally fukd up Denver for the next 3-4 years. Tebow as a quarterback for instance.
I'd take McDaniels as an OC. Saying that we should make the move today is completely absurd. But I'm hoping Schotty gets an HC offer somewhere. I'm sick of him.
I will admit that I have such a dislike for Schotty as the OC (don't know him as a person) that I am probably not able to be objective on this. My belief is that any player in the NFL benefits from experience. Playing through a full season in the NFL, at NFL game speed, seeing different defenses, all of the things that go along with playing in the NFL, will improve a player. I attribute Sanchez development much more to his experience, than Schotty. Again, I can't stand him as OC of the Jets, I think he absolutely FNg sucks, so I may not be able to be fair in this regard. BUT, I think any coach in the NFL has the job of putting his players in the best position to succeed, period. I think Schotty puts Sanchez in terrible positions: 1) Piss poor play design 2) Piss poor predictable playcalling 3) Not forcing a defense to make adjustments, and stopping what is working BEFORE the defense makes adjustments. That is NOT GOOD for a young QB's development. Look at the difference in the offense the Pats ran Brady's first few years, compared to where it has gone now. They constantly put him in positions to succeed, that he was ready to succeed in. He threw a million screens his first few years. I equate it to a boxer. If Schotty was a boxer, and fighting someone with his hands down, Schotty would throw 10 punches to his gut (where his hands are), have them blocked, then throw one to his head, hit him good in the head, and then before he even gets his hands up, go right back to the body to get blocked again. A good fighter would throw as many punches to the head as it took the opponent to raise his hands, then go back to the gut. If you taught a fighter to do that, would you be helping them develop?
What does BB have to do with anything? To make every football decision, especially coaching, because of one opponent is ridiculous and we learned that the hard way with Mangini. He tried so hard to be Belichick that it ultimately failed him in the end.
Don't forget, he has also schooled young Sanchez in the art of throwing passes while being lightly tapped by whiffle ball bats. Invaluable development.
McDaniels is a great offensive mind no doubt, he knows how to attack aggressive defenses and in the 07 season / playoffs, the play action and trick plays were used to perfection. listen, a great offensive coordinator can make a big difference. The Chiefs (Weis) and the Bears (Martz) showed significant improvement on offense. Look at the Cowboys, Garrett is getting it done with a 38-year old vet thrown into the fire. It's all about the ones that have intimate knowledge of the passing game. The running game will always be a caveat in this league. McDaniels makes too much sense for it not to at least be STRONGLY considered
The owner may not need Alzheimers. Schotty has coaching in his blood. A smart owner would request that Schotty use coordinators for the play calling instaed of doing them himself. This would aloow said team to adopt the identity of a smart playcaller rather than Brian. As for the Jets, it may open the door for McDaniels to step in if that is the direction we wanted to go. I don't see him as much of a run oriented coordinator though.
mcdaniels has a pretty impressive resume(not as head coach) coaching with Saban(College) QB coach to Brady, then turned play calling(especially 07 season). I'm all for this guy. He made Kyle Orton look pretty damn good too.
