I completely disagree that we don't matchup well from a man-man perspective. They can only send so many guys out for passes or Brady will be getting shellacked. Wilson has done pretty well against TE's. We will have a lot of DB's on the field at all times.
And I'm not one to do that, but as good as we are on the road they are at home. I'm expecting a tough fucking game but again I think we'll come out on top.
I've been saying this most of the year. We have the formula to beat the Pats and their shitty defense. Rex himself admitted he made some calls to Rob the week of their game. I have complete faith that we'll sweep the division this year, which be the icing on the cake of a great season. It's funny how Phin fans aren't around here anymore. Fuck the Pats, and the Phins!!
I think the Patriots were dominating the Steelers for 3 quarters and then kept it close with their terrible prevent D. (More evidence of their youth and inexperience on D) Sure having Hines Ward out definitely helped but then the Steelers pride themselves on being physically intimdating but sometimes that backfires... The Steelers are definitely hurting but I wouldn't sell them short. Certain teams are resilient and will always be dangerous and tough to win against even when hurting. I think the Steelers are one of those type of teams.
The Giants are garbage, they've beaten nobody good. They can beat up teams like Carolina and Seattle. I bet you anything they finish 9-7/10-6 AT BEST when they start playing good teams like Philly and Green Bay
You're conveniently leaving out the fact that the Pats beat the Ravens and we didn't. I don't know guys. I still think that the division is theirs to lose until another team proves otherwise. Think about it -even in "down" years they have done no worse than tying for the best record in the AFCE. This dates all the way back to the start of their Super Bowl run......sorry, but that's dominance. I'm not saying it won't come to an end someday and maybe that someday is now. But until that time, I admit it...I fear the Pats. They have arguably the best QB and coach in the game and some VERY good, young players on Offense and Defense.
I also think Brady ties a record for winning at home if they win this week against the Colts in Foxboro. I'd still rather the game be in Foxboro.
It was an impressive win for the Pats because of what they were able to do on offense vs. the Steelers. Defensively, the entire left side of the Steelers offensive line was out and you cannot ignore that. Big Ben was under pressure all game and Mendenhall could not get it going (11 carries for 50 yards, long of 34 so outside of that run it was 10 for 16....nowhere to run). It was an impressive win but I don't see it as a "message sending" victory.
The offensive line did a great job against the Pittsburgh zone blitz. That was really nice to see. If only because the Jets will try to bring the lumber to Brady as well. The Jets should definitely have a better running game then the Steelers but I think the Pats are going to be more prepared for LT then they were in game 2. I agree with you. It's going to be a battle. The Pats need to keep winning. A loss to the Colts would be very discouraging particularly since the Colts are hurting right now. Same for the Jets. They should be able to keep winning but I keep hoping they'll come up short on one of these close games.
I think the Pats are somewhere in between the team that was blown out vs. Cleveland and the team that dominated Pittsburgh. They obviously have a great Offense (top scoring team in the league) but their Defense has been up and down. At Home they go from being a good team to a great team in my opinion so gaining homefield advantage is huge for the Jets.
Who is Wilson going to cover? Maybe he can deal with Hernandez but no way he has the size to deal with Gronkowski or Crumpler. None of our linebackers can stay with these guys. The Steelers had cornerbacks covering tight ends and they got torched. I don't know if you noticed but we aren't getting much pressure on opposing qb's and I'm sure that's partly due to teams blocking 6 or 7 guys but it's also due to the fact that slot receivers and tight ends are constantly getting open and making the Jets play more coverage. It's going to be a chess match every play between Brady trying to figure out how many are blitzing and the Jets trying to figure out how many guys are in protection.
I don't think Pitt plays much man coverage. Brady eats up zone coverage on the regular. He has more trouble with man coverage. Wilson can cover Hernendez, Gronkowski can be covered with a safety or Lowery. I'm not scared about Crumpler as a receiving threat at this point in his career. We can cover them in man coverage, I'm not worried about that at all. And yes, we haven't been getting a lot of pressure but a lot of it is because teams are max protecting. So talk about all there receiving threats, but they can only send so many out without getting Brady raped.
Heh...fun fact.. November 12, 2006 That was the last time Tom Brady lost a game at home. to none other than our beloved Jets 17-14 That's friggin' impressive.. Even more interesting about this is they lost their previous game (also at home) to none other than the Colts who they are playing this week. Here's hoping history repeats it'self.
It's really a good thing Pats OL cannot run block for shit even if their lives depended on it. Takes a huge tactical element out of consideration. Still, Jets OLBs are, while good at run stopping, not really renowned for their pass coverage. Their double-tightend set worries me a little bit.
Steelers play mostly cover 3 with a combo of man/zone underneath. For some reason the don't adjust their defense that much even though Brady has been picking them apart for years. I disagree that lowery or Wilson can cover those guys. You can't put a 5'10" cornerback on a 6'5" tight end who can run. Their tight ends are extremely difficult to matchup with in man to man. You need a linebacker to hit these guys at the LOS and a safety playing bracket coverage.
Regular season--Chad Pennington for the win!! They did get stomped by the Ravens in Foxboro in the first round of the playoffs last year.
Playing cover-3 against the Patriots without Moss is retarded. Even with Moss it's retarded unless you have someone who can stick with Welker. Hernendez did some damage against us in the first game but he didn't kill us. I think you're over rating there passing attack based on the Steelers game. We match up much better. Hell the Browns matched up much better and don't have half the talent at DB that we do.
False. The NYJ won @NE 34-31 in OT on Thursday Night Football in 2008. EDIT-Fuck, forgot T Brady wasn't playing that game......
