Offense: D'Brick -- playing as the second best LT in the entire NFL, seriously this dude is the fucking man Defense: Bart Scott -- Is essential to our D -- takes on all the blockers like a fucking warrior and is playing out of his mind this season, more important to our D then D.Harris Special Teams: Mike Westhoff -- Yea, he's not a player -- idc.. Nick Folk has been money and Weatherford has been playing like a pro bowler when last year he, tbh, sucked. Brad Smith has been very consistent on KR's and although our PR is pretty much non-existent -- this squad is not getting nearly enough respect for how well they've been performing. Rex Ryan is to defense as Mike Westhoff is to special teams
Id say Sanchez and Edwards. But Sanchez has still led this team despite some fairly awful play calling. As far as Edwards, we all remember the drops last year, but Edwards has been the jets most sure handed receiver its clear he worked his ass of this offseason. On defense, I would say Cromartie and Harris. Cromartie has also been quite effective despite some mind numbing penalties. Of course Harris is just a beast who goes unnoticed
LT and Folk. Folk missed the one in GB, but he's hit LONG field goals and clutch ones. he's about as automatic as you can get. if he doesn't make the pro bowl that'll be a travesty. Braylon is close. He's made almost every catch that's been thrown his way. Keller has been kinda invisible since week 5 or so....otherwise he was the front runner for awhile. You can make a case for Brick and Brandon moore too....our pass protection has been outstanding Cromartie on the defensive end, but really a lot of guys..especially up front have contributed. much more a team effort than just 1 guy
Call me crazy, but Brad Smith. Always a postive play on offense. Makes tackles on ST. and is # 2 in KO return avg.
Offense: Brick- I don't think he has even given up a QB hit, let alone a sack since he got nabbed in the Braylon incident. I know he has gone several entire games without giving up so much a QB pressure, that is fucking amazing in the NFL. That was after a shaky start trying to make up for Slauson's short comings. Now that Slauson has improved significantly, so has Brick and Mangold. Bottom line next year put him in a limo full of hookers, booze, Vernon Gholston and Braylon. Get them pulled over by the cops.....we are talking All-pro. Alternate: Mangold- Mangold is playing with a bum shoulder and playing at a really high level. Can't ever question his toughness. 2nd Alternate: LT- Yeah right he is done..... Defense: Harris- This guy is a beast. He is the constant back there. The only thing that he hasn't done to great effect is get sacks. He has 1 this year. He is getting QB hits though so he is getting pressure..... Alternate: Cromartie- Cromartie held his own while Revis was recuperating from money lag, I mean Hamstring problems. He is not a lockdown guy like Revis as he has 1-2 brainfarts a game. But he has really stepped up and improved as the season progressed. I wish he was more physical....... but if he was, Jets never, ever, would have gotten him for such a discounted price.
I was leaning the same way ... it seems like almost every time Brad touches the ball something good happens. He's been our most consistent player all year, but I don't think he gets enough touches to be the MVP ... I was also considering Braylon ... probably has made more big plays than anyone on our team so far this season ... but his stupidity with the DUI distraction disqualifies him IMHO ... So I'll go with Sanchez. So many times this season when things were about to unravel, he's shown the ability to remain calm, do his job and lead us to victory.
apparently he gave up ONE QB hit against the Lions, and smacked the ground when he did. I'm stealing all of this from thejetsblog.com, but I agree when they said he's setting a bar for himself each week. He wants to have a flawless game, he wants to protect his leader and he knows how much the team has a chance to be special with Sanchez upright. Fuckin love Brick.
Offense MVP - Tomlinson. He is a leader, and herhas found new life that has kept the running game strong. He's a fantastic checkdown option for Sanchez. This offense would be really different without his skillset. Defense MVP - Bart Scott. He's been making more plays this season, but still is doing an outstanding job putting others in position to make plays. ST MVP - Folk. So many questioned him coming here and the concerns were warranted. But when the article about his mental and physical health were both back to pro bowl form before the season, I had no doubts he would be what he is. Folk has been money when it counts.
It's good that we can disagree on who is the MVP. That shows how many Jets are really playing well this season. Defense - Cromartie. Look how Coleman struggles sometimes & now imagine Coleman as the #1 CB while Revis is holding out & then while Revis is hurt. Offense - D'brickashaw Ferguson. Sanchez has been having good time to survey the field & then to check down afterwards. Ferguson rarely gives up pressure & works alone (usually). LT is the player I'm most enjoying to watch though. After he was considered done & all the trash talk San Diego put out to disrespect someone who has decided to stay classy & not fire back. LT catching ability is so much better than I expected. Also, still has some of that elusiveness left. LT joined the team this season but he's someone I'll remember as a NY Jet & not a player from some stupid slapdick team.
