Seriously. TheJetsStream Manish Mehta #Jets Bart Scott fined $10K for playing w/unbuckled chin strap vs Lions, per source. Seems kind of steep for unbuckled chinstrap. #nfl #nyj 32 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply
Good. It sucks he is out 10 grand but helmets are designed to protect the best when fully strapped in. Last thing we need is him to get a concussion and miss a week because it looks cool to leave a strap unbuckled.
I said it in the Peterman, Peterson fine thread, F U Goddell. These fines for everything are asinine. What's next a fine of $69 grand for not wearing a protective cup? Worry about the collective bargaining agreement getting settled, not chin straps. The players union is going to have to hire more folks just to argue the fines each week.
They all do. They go to a charity in the offending teams market. Post count is not high enough to post links but google it.
Is this for real because you see unbuckled or loose chin straps on nearly every game. As Chrisp22 said, Goddell would be better employed making sure we have a season next year. If Bart Scott gets injured because his helmet wasn't done up, that Barts fault, he's a big boy and can make his own choices. The way its going we will be playing non contact soon!
Favre plays without buckling his chin strap and he doesn't even getting fined for sending his cock n crocs pic to Sterger.
Even distribution of fines Player's are held to extremely high standards by Heir Goodell in uniform compliance and personal off field conduct. Now this is expanded to on field conduct with threats of huge fines based on a largely unknown subjective standard held by the Commissioner's office as to what is violent and what is acceptable. My question is, why are the referees not held to the same high standards? Similar to the players, the vast majority bring their best each week, do their job well and represent the league in a positive light. However, when a referee COMPLETELY bungles a call or multiple calls, which result in the difference between wins & losses, with literally millions to billions of dollars at stake between success and failure, why are they not held accountable? Players that fail to wear a chin strap or hit a player out of bounds are slapped with large fines, but a Zebra that clearly fails gets no such penalty. Zebras that fail should be held to account by the same subjective standard the commissioner's office holds for players, both on field and off. This means fines and suspensions.:eaglessuck:
I don't think you can suspend a referee because they work as part of a team. I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that one team is together for the course of a season. They, just like players specifically the OL, know exactly what the others are doing, and exactly how the head ref wants to call the games. Removing one that totally fucks up will screw with the team dynamics for the officials. Which in turn could cause more problems in the game they miss. As far as fines, im ok with that, but obviously it won't be 10k fines since refs don't make that much. Also does anybody else find it hilarious that Bart got fined more for not properly buckling a chin strap than Peterson who actually hit somebody illegally? Also I think this fine is more about the "Dirtiest team I've ever played against, since Tenessee" comments than the not wearing the chin strap. Its just simply the way within the rules they were able to fine him.
This is about control. The world is changing and it is obvious that those who have been benefitted the most from this system of inequality are afraid that there time is coming to an end.
