Another reason why Marty Lyons is the man

Didnt a ref in College football say the same thing once?Im sure its on youtube somewhere.

The ref reminds me of the refs from the movie Necessary Roughness

 

I am pretty sure I have seen the giving him the business call in a more modern Jets game as well. Maybe I just saw this video before and am projecting it into a modern setting but I swear I saw a ref make that call live once.

Either way that is a hilarious way to call a penalty.

We seriously need to give some business to Tom Gaydy.

 

First of all, I just love the fact that Lyons would lay into a QB like that.

Secondly, the ref is a total star and must be brought back into the NFL regardless of his current age or life/death status.

Thirdly, I love how the call was on Gastineau rather than Lyons.

 

I was playing football in college that year, 1986. That became the joke in practice that next week, after every play someone was giving someone "the business".

 

Did he not give Gastineau's number?

 

Yeah, the ref got it wrong. Could have been subliminal, a lot of the refs (and many others) had a huge hard-on over Gastineau at that time, he was never far out of mind.

Hey I'm a big fan of Sack Exchange. Can someone tell me if Marty Lyons has gone through some sort of illness recently. I have listened to Marty on the radio for years and he sounds totally different. So much so that I feared he may be ill. Just curious.

kelly actually had his finger stuck in lyons facemask.and when marty went to get up kelly wanted him to wait.lyons tried ripping his finger off

Kelly was technically a rookie that year but had played in the USFL for a year or two.
