From Peter King on SI.com: "1. The pregame show battle over Randy Moss news. I doubt there's much left. But top beat men Chip Scoggins and Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune had a great nugget this morning, laying down the gauntlet for the weekend, reporting that after the Vikings' 28-18 loss to the Patriots Sunday, Moss walked into the locker room "and told the Vikings owner in no uncertain terms that Childress wasn't a good coach and should be fired.'' Ouch. What a team guy! Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/peter_king/11/05/nfl-week-9/1.html#ixzz14R1nL5Dv" The guy gets fired for saying something everybody knows is true (unless anybody doubts this is the reason Childress cut him without telling anybody). Heck, Favre has come pretty close to saying the same thing on camera at press conferences. I'd say the same thing if I saw the owner of the Vikings on the street. Moss saying it to the owner's face is awesome, and the best part is, I bet the owner nows he was right; I bet if it'd been his choice he would've kept Moss and let Childress go. As is, Childress is probably gonna be gone in the offseason anyway, and the team will be without either Moss or their third round pick. I bet Moss was right about that food being awful too. This guy gets railroaded by the press, but frequently seems like the most honest guy in the room, and maybe the smartest as well.
even if he was right about the food, it's classless to do that in front of the people that own the business in that matter. total jerkoff move
I don't think either incident is cut worthy (the food or telling the owner the coach should be fired). Obviously Childress is getting fired at the end of the year anyway. I think him quitting on the team and effusively praising the Pats CS after losing to them is worse.
Yes, god forbid he be honest to the man that owns the team. Randy is guilty of speaking his mind. Its not always the birght thing to do, be we happen to rever a coach who does that alot. Frankly Childress was in way over his head trying to deal with Moss and Favre. I'm sure young guys like AP and Harvin would be better off without the fiasco and without childress. Thats one reason I belive Moss will work out in Tennessee. Fisher is a damn good coach who has the respect of his players. Childress barely had a grip on hs team before Moss and its much worse now.
The owners of the catering place today are offering free lunch to the first 50 people and charging everyone else $8.40 in "honor" of Moss
How about not making a bad situation worse? How about being a team player and keeping things in house? How about Favre and Moss man up and carry the team, instead of looking for a scapegoat for their own failures? Both have proved to be narcissistic fools that only care about themselves and the spotlight. Two egomaniacs that no team needs. Yes, Childress is done in Minnesota, but that is on the players just as well as him. They went 13-3 last year with the same coach and basically same team sans Rice. Players should be accountable for themselves if they want to throw stones. Both are lacking class in playing this out in this manner.
I think Moss saying what he did about Childress makes him more of a 'team guy' than any of the other Vikings that just sit there and listen. Maybe if someone spoke up sooner they'd actually have a real head coach. I admit, what Moss said about the food was stupid.
you shut the hell up with your super accurate, hit the nail on the head logic! I want to think in "what ifs" and "probablys", dammit! j/k
I say fire Childress and let Bevell finish out the season as HC. Either a) Favre responds well to his butt buddy Bevell and the offense finally gets it together (and Bevell is the new head coach in 2011). or b) Bevell tanks, and the organization can offer Leslie Frazier, Rob Ryan or Bill Cowher a top ten draft pick to go get the quarterback of the future. But right now, good players are turning into bad guys in that locker room because they're speaking the truth. The organization has a lot more invested in Percy Harvin and the other young playmakers than they do Childress or Favre. I don't like seeing the tail wag the dog, but the writing's on the wall in Minny. It's time to rebuild.
Childress made the right call with Moss. I cannot think of one working environment where a coach/manager/lead/superior should allow shit like that from anyone working under them to slide. We all know Childress is a terrible coach but Moss has frequently proven he's a classless dumb-ass.
Probably is. Me and a few of my friends went to a random restaurant in Chicago. Their buffet was the worse I've ever had anywhere, and it was uncooked. When we were leaving, we asked the owner "Are there any good places to eat in Chicago? Where do you go and eat?"...It was hilarious. Where Moss went was apparently a good restaurant. If he didn't like the food, then he probably should not have had anything and waited to go home and order pizza or something.
I personally liked this particular quote: "According to the report, Moss entered the Vikings' locker room following the 28-18 loss to the Patriots and told the owner that the coach wasn't fit to run an NFL team and should be let go. Didn't know that players made this much on apparel sales: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5805087
Why those fucking idiots bought Moss jerseys in Minnesota anyways is beyond me. He wasn't staying past the offseason.
true, but vendors are gonna buy them in the hopes they can sell them to some sap, so its not like all those sales figures are for consumers. still sucks to be them.
