Yeah, with regards to the MVP vote it won't be LT. I don't really think it should be him either. He simply won't have the numbers to warrant it, and not with Peyton Manning in the league (really? Tom Brady for MVP? C'mon man). He has a legit shot at comeback player of the year. Kolb is legit, and as long as he plays well, Vick won't get a chance to pad his stats. Mike Williams had one big game Sunday, but he also has zero TD receptions. Can't win an award without touchdowns. As for Henderson, he is playing really, really well, but he was great last year too. It's not like he reinvented himself, he just recovered from a nasty broken leg. LT was not good at all his last couple years in San Diego. The only reason he had 12 TDs last year is because he hawked goal line carries. Without that stat, his season looked anemic.
If the Jets finish with the best record in the AFC and Tomlinson continues his great play and finishes with something like 1350 yards, 14 td, 50 catches.. I bet he will get a few votes for MVP. There are always a few voters who place extra emphasis on leadership, team performance, and things like that, and also who like to go against the grain and make the not-so-obvious pick. Not saying he will win it by any stretch, but he might get a couple of votes. Not unrealistic. Now comeback player of the year is a different story, he can easily win that.
Again, I really don't like the "I told you so" card. Especially since I'm wrong my fair share of times. I just knew LT was going to be fantastic. If I went back and looked I'm certain I said our ground game would be better this year with the changes we made. Did I think LT would be the starter and taking so many snaps away from Greene? Not really, but I did firmly believe he would return to form for himself. He's just too talented to not still be great. As far as MVP/CPoY, it's dependent on Kolb. If Kolb is healthy, LT has a shot at being the comeback player. If Vick gets even half the starts, he'll run away with it. LT had a couple of down years, while Mike Vick was in jail. Personally, if I had a vote, I'd give it to Vick, just based on what he's done to just this point. LT has a better shot at MVP than CPoY. Will he get it? Doubtful.
Know what I love about LT ?........ He's a JET. I don't mean that he's dressed in Jet green & white either. I mean HE'S A JET. He's not a displaced Charger.....he's a JET. Listen to him in interviews and when he's miked up. He's a team leader....he "plays like a JET", he LIKES it here....he WANTS to be here....this is not a "default" or "least of the evils" deal for LT. This is a reboot. I like that.
Good post. Your gotta love the passion he displays on the feild after a big run. Its hard for the rest of the team to not be fired up by LT. He is exatly the type of leader we needed on offense. We have an exceptionaly talented group of young guys and fuck-ups on thier second chance. LT brings not only enthusiasm, but expreince and production. Someone for our other skilled guys to aspire to become like. He's at once professional, sucessful, and firey. Its like Rex bottled some of his attitude and put it on the offense.
I thought only baseball fans care about awards. I don't care about awards, the Pro-Bowl and Hall of Fame because THE MEDIA VOTES AND THEY ARE DUMB
