Do all these new rules about suspending players on a dangerous hit hinder how the Jets play defense?

It will depend on the dress sizes that are chosen for the offense.

I feel like it can end up affecting the Jets more than most teams just because we play a very aggressive style of defense. I am definitely not in favor of this rule.

We don't have guys that lead with the helmet.

    Rex likes tacklers.

tell that to the refs......otherwise Jim Leonhard's phantom helmet shots will cost him some games.

I admit I havent read the fine print of the new rules coming out, but I cant see a guy getting suspended for a hit like Leonhard had. As far as i know JL hasnt even been fined for that hit.

The NFL has to take this very seriously and look deep into the hits that are being layed out. I was watching some replays and it seemed like Merriweather from the Pats leads with his head on every tackle he makes. Im not even saying that just cause he is on NE those were some cheap ass hits he was making.

If its borderline I cant see a guy missing time if a guy is out there headhunting then yes he should be off the field for at least two games.

Thats because even the NFL knows that was a BS call on JL.

    That was biased officiating.

    Without which we'd be undefeated.

    That was a Tackle.
The part that unnerves me is injecting more SUBJECTIVITY into a game where last week shows that the people making the calls aren't doing all that great.

I'm glad we have a Bye Week the first week of this new rule...since it's still unclear what they will accept and not accept.

"Devastating hit" is a loose term.

Let's face it... James Harrison has been playing like that his whole career.

    Like Rodney Harrison...

    Merriweather too....

Eric Smith will occasionally throw the big hit but for the most part Rex has them drill and wrap.

Rex would punch you on behalf of his brother for saying that...

When you tell players don't hit too hard, it will affect every defense. This whole thing is just asinine, and on a sidenote I can't stand Roger Goodell.

This is particularly important for Cromartie.

yup. Who knows how they're going to enforce this bullshit. I think it may involve Tony Dungy reviewing the game tapes with his church group.

goodell is an idiot, i really hate this guy...banning hard hits in the nfl is like banning car crashes in nascar. its absurd guys are moving so fast and they are big and strong and hard his are gonna happen. 98% of then are not intentional. The players know what they are getting into, thats why they make 500K a game. That Dunta Robinson hit was perfectly legal, whats he supposed to do? let him catch it? Honestly if this is really what the league is gonna come to just make it two hand touch if Goodell is that much of a vagina.

From what I heard every defender will be given a NFL issued pillow to use to hit players now. A direct pillow to head hit will result in a 30 yard penalty and a helmet off slap fight.
