i was watching NFL total access thursday night and after they fired up jets cam, rich eisen asked rod woodson how he sees the jets future for the coming season. as i expected, there would be some doubt, but i didnt expect everything to be so negative. he basically said there was nothing good about the jets and on top of that one of the things he said was "theres no depth at linebacker." i was like wow this guys an idiot. but aside from that he said the future looks very bleak and rich even said "well dont u think that something good will come of this in the future" (speaking towards the rebuilding process) and rod just shrugged his head and shoulders and said " with the way this division is shaping up, i dont really the jets having any chance."
You'd like to think that someone who's being paid to offer their "expert" opinion on football matters would always come prepared. The reality, particularly with ex-jocks who wandered into the broadcasting end, is that they are often woefully unprepared to offer a lucid comment. I saw this as a Patriots fan when a commentator recently said that the Patriots will slip because their defense is getting old (the Patriots only have TWO defensive starters over 30). Woodson's apparently been sitting by the pool napping while the NFL world has moved on. This may be a rebuilding year for the Jets but even this Patriots fan can see that Mangini has a plan and the longer term outlook could be very bright once new skill players are added on offense and the 3/4 defense personnel are completed next year.
Well, in Woodsons defense...If a team is not filled with ex-Raiders, or they are not the Raiders they will suck.
I do see alot of that especially in many power rankings and such. I try to ignore them i mean what was happening at this time last year??? Houston were looking pretty good to be in the playoffs. I'm not judging us untill after game 1
It's just a case of the Jets pushing the media to extremes as usual. I've never figured out why the herd always goes the same direction on the Jets, but they do. Often, like 1998 and last year they are all wrong by the end of the season. There are a few exceptions; Ron Jaworski always leans towards the Jets and Howie Long always slams them; but 95% of the talking heads seem to follow some hidden script that only talking heads are allowed to see. Then in years when the Jets are better than the script says they all scramble to catch up. I'm guessing the Jets are a low-end middle of the pack team next year at 7-9 or so. That won't stop the media from calling for 4-12 or worse at the start of the season.
haha. rich eisen also asked him. "well dont u think this rebuilding of the culture of the jets will be a good thing?" and Rod quick replied "yeh.......hell try to do the Bill Belichick thing but one thing that Bill had was he got lucky with a guy named tom brady and that equals superbowls so unless the jets draft another tom brady and get lucky and I seriously doubt that kellen clemens will be that guy, it will be a long road ahead" I was like wtf is wrong with this guy. most of the NFL players are evenly matched and usually its about using those players in the right spots. yeh i admit that qb's are a different breed because usually u have to be born with those quick reflex insticts but another player can usually succeed given the right circumstances.
No dude dont u see... hes right. The ONLY way to win a superbowl is to have someone called Tom Brady on your team... Thats why Mangini is trying to convince Kellen right now to change his name...ats_suck:
NO, Maybe because Jets are learning two new schemes- on both sides of ball, Have one of the most inexperienced head coaching staffes, Going with more youth(youngsters make mistakes at the wrong time), have like 25 questions marks that must be answered(1.Big Questions at QB), don't have personal yet to run schemes they want to play and last but not least, they only have two ex Raiders on their roster(E Barton and D Jolley) . What the Heck was R Woodson thinking, not predicting a superbowl for Jets. There is a reason why its called rebuilding year. It just takes time , as Rome wasn't built in a day. BTW Rod Woodson knows his stuff, he didn't play in NFl as long as he did , without being a bright guy. This guy dosen't like your depth at LB. Than you better believe you have trouble at LB. Answer this. Yes jets are loaded with inside LBs for 3-4 ,but you really think you have enough OLBs for 3-4. So what did he say that was so wrong.
Now you know the Jets always are Superbowl Contenders no matter the circumstances. We never rebuild, we only "retool".. New coaching staff? Jets in the SB. New system? No QB? No problem. Jets first in the league in every catagory! I guess the Green Kool Aid is flowing freely again in Jetland but it must be spiked with something really "special" this year...
Guess you had not read Cmans post right above yours. The reverse of what you posted is actually the case
You would think these guys know better than to shoot off at the mouth with such stupidity. EVERY YEAR at least one team makes it to the playoffs that "should not" be there. Also, there is usually one team, such as the Jets last year that do not make the playoffs that everybody picked to go far. Rejects.
