If you told me that we would both these guys lining up in our backfield a while back, I would have told you you were mad, not because it would be fantasy football, but because they would be past their prime, past it if you like. But watching these 2, they have LOADS left in the tank, question is how much? The other question is, that as much as I love the Conner pick, did we pick up a FB a year too early with T Riches production seemingly going on forever, we do have other glaring needs.
Trich - most likely and Conner, love the pick, but due to TRiches production, with hindsight, we didn't need to draft a FB just yet. On the flipside though, learning OJT with one of the worlds best is invaluable.
I suppose what I'm saying is that if the FO knew just how durable Richardson was going to be, maybe juts maybe they would have made another pick. I LOVE the Conner pick though, make no mistake
I believe the Conner pick would have been made even if the coaching staff thought Richardson was going to make the All-Pro team this season.
If Connor lives up to Rex's hype, taking him was the right choice. I'm a believer in talent over need for the draft. If Connor is a legit starter for us in the next few years, then it would be a great pick.
Why not draft a FB and let him develop a year before taking over the starting role? You don't have to draft a position you need the year you need it.
I'm glad Conner has T-Rich to teach him, he has great talent, but he's technique has been off in a couple of games. He's not trying to actually trying to take on a block, he's trying to throw himself at the defender, hoping he can take him out. He's hasn't had huge success with that method so far...
