If the Jets had only planned to sit him one play, they shouldn't have sat him at all. Not setting precedence is fine, but don't stand on a moral soapbox and say you're going to take action and then only sit him a single play. The media will have a field day with this, much more than if they had simply said "we're going to let the legal process play out, the CBA handcuffs us from acting further...".
I guess those "we're", "we" and "our decision" doesn't mean it is more than just Rex making a decision or the "I think it’s an embarrassing moment for the organization and I don’t want to put our owner in a bad situation, an embarrassing light." didn't have any bearing on it. Do you not think the Rex had a discussion with Tannenbaum before he talked to the press?
Wait, so now we're on a moral soapbox? I thought we were thugs. And it's the "media" whose saying he's only sitting one play, and we know how accurate they are. He's gonna play, and if he sits one play and comes out and catches 11 balls for 130 yds and 2 TD's then no one will give a shit what the "media" thinks about it. But he won't. And guess what? It doesn't change the gameplan at all. Lost in the whole Braylon Edwards controversy is the fact that it's Braylon Edwards we're talking about. It's not Jerry Rice. We got Keller, Jaco, LT, Smith...I think they can hold down the fort for a half (if that's even necessary). Will he play? Yes. When? WHO GIVES A SHIT???!!!!
Him meeting with Mr T or not has nothing to do with this This quote is about him telling us how he supposedly felt about the whole situation and what he was deciding to do about it When it came out, that was my first reaction to it. We would not start Braylon and that’s what we’re going with. That’s how I felt at the time and I’ve already mentioned the fact that I think it’s an embarrassing moment for the organization and I don’t want to put our owner in a bad situation, an embarrassing light. It’s just something that I feel is appropriate
He probably did feel like that when it happened. Today he probably feels like beating the fucking Dolphins.
Really, so you don't think what management tells him they want done has any bearing on it. I don't care if he said it was what he felt, if he already met with Tanny and or Woody and was told he needs to not start Edwards then when he comes out to talk that is going to have a bearing on what he says. And personally I wish he plays from the first offensive snap until the Jets have put the game out of reach. When they are up by 21 in the 3rd they can say, OK we are sitting you for what happened the other day. I have no moral or ethical quandaries about the DUI and I couldn't care less what the press or anyone else says about the choices the Jets make. All I care about is crushing the Fins tonight. That said, I have wasted enough of my time talking about DUI's this week.
The irony of this whole situation is that Braylon will get booed whenever he enters the game by 60,000+ people. Of those 60,000, AT LEAST 5,000 of them could easily get busted on the way home from the game for the exact same thing he was nailed for.
On espn last night with a college game they named all of the guys in the past 2 years who got DUIs in season and didnt miss a down of football. This is BS let him play the whole game. We Win and take the lead in the EAST!!
Dwayne Jarrett from the Panthers just got busted with his 2nd DWI in 3 years. So we are going to see an uproar from the media right? Smarmy Lupica is going to write article after article about how the Panthers need to bench him 8 games and fight the players union to the death, right? Talking heads from Seattle to Miami are going to burn the airwaves for days flipping out about how awful DWI is and we cannot let this guy get away with this, right? RIGHT????????
The league is going to give him 4 games. The team won't even get a chance to intervene, and no one will care because he sucks.
It just cracks me up that people only act like they really care about DWI when it happens to certain players on certain teams. Ridiculous.
uh-oh. People care about DWI in general on this site. It was argued ad nauseum on this site when he was arrested.
