I think a lot of Braylon's bravado and celebration came off as the chip on his shoulder. All the talk about him dropping balls, the Jets offense being terrible, and all the talk without the walk got to him. When he scored, he let all that out. I'm sure Rex explained to him that it's good to be confident, good to show enthusiasm, but not at the expense of the team and our chances to win.

    Won't happen again. I hope.

    Overreact much?

Someones brains splattered on a wall would qualify as "pretty disgusting" but a taunt in football? Sheesh...

He taunted, he got the penalty, lets move on, no life loss over it.

    The spark was the touchdown.

    The taunt was unnecessary.

Thank you. Doing a dance in the guy's face is childish, not disgusting. If anything, you could call Eric 'domecrusher' Smith's blow to Welkers head disgusting, but I don't think Smith did it with malicious intent.

Okay, so it's stupid. That has no bearing on this.

Edwards knows the rule, and stupid or not, he needs to not take that penalty.

He was close to getting another on the next TD, spiking the ball in Butler's face and giving him a shove. I'm not saying he deserved another one, but when you just got called for one, why even take that chance?

He didn't spike it in butlers face, he flipped it towards him and Butler pushed him.

Normally I wouldn't like to see this type of thing from Jets players but they needed some swagger on offense and played witih a ton of it yesterday. They need to bring that energy every week, just relax on taking dumb penalties.

He was just trying to teach him the dougie or w/e that stupid shit's called. For real tho there's no need for that, not cus I'm gonna pretend to be "old school" but because it cost us 15 yards on the next kick off.

I thought the taunt was fuckin' hilarious, but yeah, it's never worth the 15 yards.

Its probably the stupidest penalty a player can get. I like Edwards and I cannot wait to see what this offense is gonna look like when we have Edwards, Holmes, JCo and Keller spreading the Defenses... but hopefully he never gets another one of those again.

I'm glad Rex didn't give him the game ball, that was stupid.

It was 7-7 and he cost the team a valuable 15 yards, there are no excuses for a penalty like that.

After the 2 point conversion he could've easily been called for taunting again.

Those kind of penalties are just inexcusable.

It made an awesome .gif though.

It was one of the funniest shit we've seen, and the Jets offense desperately needed a swagger. Other team defenses were mocking this offense left and right. I'm glad Edwards brought some against Butler to further aggrevate him. Turns out, it worked out well.

I happened to watch that TD again, and I was drinking my coffee then spit it out because I saw something funnier than Braylon Edwards doing the dougie.

Who else saw Brandon Moore trying to talk to the refs to question that flag while imitating braylon's dougie dance?

It was hard to miss on TV. If the game gets replayed on NFLN this week, you could check out what Moore did. It wasn't any big deal or funny. Moore just happened to imitate what Edwards did and likely said something to the effect of, "He was only doing this. You can't throw a flag for that."

I initially missed it because I was too busy celebrating our first TD of the season.

The humor is in that Moore didn't even know what Braylon's gesture meant.

Not exactly related, but.....the only thing I hate more than taunting penalties is when players celebrate BEFORE they are actually in the end zone.

Yeah. I was watching the Notre Dame game a few weeks back and the refs missed a call where a player was acting the fool before getting in the end zone. He actually dropped the ball before hitting the end zone. Should have been a touchback. That should happen every time.

I miss guys like Chrebet who just handed the ball to the refs.
