Exactly. Lots of times, car drivers don't see bikes or misjudge distance and speed with them, and on a bike, you don't have the protection you do with a car. In fact, this past weekend two people were killed in the Allegany Reservoir area of Cattaraugus County when a car turned left directly into the path of the motorcycle they were riding on, and they were thrown from the bank.
Roethlisberger Hurt In Motorcycle Accident... Today, QB Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. He has openly stated before that he does not wear a helmet when riding. Paramedics at the scene say he was alert and conscious, however, other sources are reporting that he is in critical condition. My gf, just called me and told me this, and I just found an article on NFL.com to back this up. Apparently, this happened 2 hours ago. This is apparently very serious. God Bless. My prayers are with him. http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/PIT/9493892

Helmets are stupid; their distraction is enough to make you wreck alone. The key to avoiding a head injury on a motorcycle is avoiding a wreck. Yuppies + TV shows like American Chopper and Biker build off = inexperienced rider with motorcycle. Inexperienced rider + motorcycle = accident waiting to happen.
Technically, it isn't a law, it is the lack of a law. I live in NH where it is live free or die, and yes, helmets are not required. Personally, I'm against seat belt and helmet laws. This is just another way for city and states to nickel and dime more money out of people. Sure, seatbelts save lives, and I wear mine everytime I drive somewhere. But to me it is common sense, and doesn't need to be a law. If it weren't the law I wouldn't be any less prone to not wear it. I say remove the laws and cull the herd... Anyway, hopefully dumbass Ben R will be ok. That is just dumb. Yeah, superfly - you're cool now!
As a new driver of 18 years old, I made the mistake of turning directly into the path of a motorcycle. Luckly, the guy on the bike had probably come across dipshits like myself in the past, and was prepared to swerve, but the grim reality is that I could have seriously hurt or even killed the guy, as his allowable speed was 55MPH. Let's hope that things aren't too serious for Ben.
That is true. I'm in "the Burg" almost every weekend, and I can attest to that. I think his popularity may have something to do with it, or they could just be trying to supress the media rumors by saying everythings ok? Think about it, if they were to come out and say it doesn't look good, the city would be in an uproar, and I'm sure the person who caused the accident (if it wasn't self inflicted) would be about as safe as the kid who caught the pop fly in Chicago during the Sox playoffs last year.
My cousin died in a motorcycle crash. he wasnt wearing a helment and he had a 3 year old son. so his 3 year old son has no dad.
Speculated... You dont just fly off your handlebars and hit an oncomming car because you think it might be fun
WTF does that mean?!? The car had the right of way. He HIT the car and than heit the windsheild. How is it hard to believe the motorcyclist caused the accident?
I'm not saying it didn't... all I'm saying is that I have yet to read a report where the events have been published. What right of way? It happened on a bridge
