This actually happened to me last year when the Jets played the Bills at home. I was upperdeck first row and I was standing and cheering when the Jets D was on the field, I was told to sit down by security....... I had the same reaction. It was always my impression thats what you do at football games, this isn't baseball.....
Sitting in 123 you get a pretty decent view of the field. There was one play where Sanchez looked over to Fireman Ed, sitting below me, and made the "quite" gesture, in the hopes that our greatest, most special-terrific fan of all time could quiet down 86,000 people by himself.
Yes do this. If Rex knew this he would kill that security guard.. If Woody found out he would pat the security guard on the back, and ask him if he needed another beer, or a soft hot towel for his forehead.
No complaints in Section 135. We stood repeatedly on 3rd down and many plays during the second half blitzkreig. Very happy to see a lot of loud, hard core Jets' fans in this section. I was a little concerned about this during the pre-season games but once the real fans showed up during the regular season, I am very happy that the crowd still seems loud and very engaged in the game.
Hi probably got a complaint from the old lady sitting behind you and he was just acting on the complaint. I'll bet he felt like a douche but felt he had to at least try to satisfy the fan(s) behind you. On the other hand your not one of those nitwits that stands during THE FREAKIN WHOLE GAME. I know that's not you. ;-)
Up in 333 you can stand and nobody says anything. It's prety steep too, so you're only blocking a row or two, they can stand if they want to. It's a good way to get the people behind you to stand up.
Standing/Sitting hard to have a comment either way if I don't know the details. I noticed at the Jets/Ravens game in row two a group of long term season ticket holders, a guy (around 45 with his Dad and Mom around 75 and one of two other people) who had seats since the first day at Shea had six guys in their 30's standing most of game in front of them in row one. None of the six guys in row one were the PSL holders. The older man tried to stand for the first 30 minutes but got tired and sat down with his wife. The guys in their 30's stood yelling at cheerleaders, camerman, leaning forward to take pictures of each other, basically stood 99% of game. The same thing happend at Jets/Giants game a few seats over, older season ticket holder in row four was furious that rows one to three stood entire game, heck they stood talking to each other even during halftime, breaks, Offense/Defense and were switching seats, texting, taking pictures etc. Guy who was around late 40"s got into a big yellling match with the standing people and the long term season ticket holder was ejected. Even better, only a few of the crowd had stubhub tickets, the rest was texted by their friends who snuck down from upper deck. Bottom line a long term older season ticket holder sitting in his paid psl should be able to see at least 50-70% of game without standing. But guess what with some people paying $700 a pair off stubhub for scalped tickets for their once a year visit to great seats to a great game who have been drinking for three hours that ain't happening. Aint their PSL seat to lose. The guys in the yellow jackets are in a situation where Jets said it is ok to stand and Jets said PSL holders have rights to best seats and views in the stadium. Four six ft four guys standing all game in front of a short family. Jets also said PSLs are a good investment and you can sell them on ticket exchange for a profit. Good luck working that out so everyone is happy. I tried to sit a lot last game, but guess what me being only one doing it does not really help people that much so I gave into peer pressure drank heavy, yelled and stood 80% of game!!
I was standing most of the game and the entire game while one defense. It was especially gratifying because I had an asshole Pats fan sitting behind me. On the Pats first few drives he was saying oh this is just too easy. I said the same when we had nice drives. When we started beating the shit out of them, physically, I was saying in the most sarcastic voice possible, oh this is soo easy. lol- That continued pretty much the entire second half. Even his son was laughing.
I have the perfect solution - Fanvision. I got a free unit from the Jets (completely unexpected). The last free thing I got from the jets was hats with my section number when I was in the upper deck and they had the wrong section number. Ask me about it if interested. I'm afraid to start a thread what with all the warnings about it in the top section.
I don't mind standing when it's appropriate. I just hate the asshole in the front row always standing waving his hands for everybody else to constantly stand. If you wanna be that guy, go up to the last row and fuck off. Real fans know when to stand and don't need prompting from some jerkoff.
I always make sure to ask the people directly behind me ... as the tickets get swapped btw different people. I never have a prob and i like to stand alot on big plays and especially 3rd downs. I do look over now in a few other sections in the Mezz and people arent even clapping/yelling/standing ..nothing on huge plays!! It is really like why are you here, so lame sometimes.
If someone blocked my view, I would complain too. If someone wants to stand, go stand outside in the lines. Don't block someones view who doesn't want to stand and watch the game. It usually isn't an issue with most of the people, but some may not be willing to stand.
if people are too retarded to know when its cool to stand or not then they should be smacked down or told to sit by security. people are paying hundreds of dollars to sit in the stadium, not to watch some drunken moron's back just b/c he is too stupid to utilize common courtesy to other fans. Stand and cheer, but standing constantly is fucked up.
Drunk morons are part of the Jets gameday experience, for better or worse. I don't preoccupy myself with them, if people in front of me get up I get up if I need to see. Sometimes I'm a little hammered myself when I first get to my seat and need to stay seated for a bit to gather my bearings early in the game. Especially now that I have to climb like 90 flights of steps to get to my seats after tailgating, pounding food and whiskey, etc. But once the game gets into a flow and there's a big play at stake I've rounded into the proper frame of mind. To me the game is too short to bother with idiots around you unless you really have to.
