I'm really not concerned about Greene. Seems like he has the right attitude toward what happened last week, and will play with extra motivation this Sunday to erase it from memory. I think he'll be back in post-season form in no time
Regardless of whether it was right or wrong to bench him, I hope it taught Greene a lesson. He has to hold on to the ball for us to be successful. He's got major talent when he's carrying the ball, but he has to keep possession for it to matter. Anyone still want to say it was no big deal with Pace getting a screw put in? Everywhere is reporting best-case is week 4. Who would have thought it would be his ankle that would keep Pool out for weeks. He's become one of those bike crew guys Westhoff was talking about.
Greene saying all the right things, hopefully he comes out on Sunday and plays with a chip on his shoulders. We need him to be the Greene of last years playoffs this week, he needs to hold onto the ball, if not I hope they bench his ass again.
Greene needs to avoid running into Matt "Iron Ass" Slauson when he's running with the ball. It looked like he was actually trying to protect the ball when he ran into Ol Ironside.
Yeah that's what boggled me the most was he had it wrapped up with both hands during that fumble, guess that ass just hits too damn hard.
U can average 10 yards a carry, but if you can't hold on to the ball, you are extremely harmful for the team. Two fumbles on five carries is not acceptable no matter what your name is. LT had a great game to let Shonn ride the bench for the rest of the day. This should hopefully teach him a lesson and he comes back strong. We need both of them at the same time. It pushes both of them to the limit to try their best and try and get the work load.
Yes he tried to wrap it with two hands but his technique was bad. If he is holding the ball the right way he never loses that ball, inexcusable. I was all for him getting benched after two fumbles and now I'm all for him coming out on Sunday with a chip on his shoulders. Better hold onto the ball though.
Obviously a running back always has to protect the ball, but let's think about the 2 plays where Greene dropped the ball. These were both plays where Greene just let his guard down. On the first drop the play was basically over and he had almost reached the sidelines, and on the second he ran into his own guard. It's not like Greene showed trouble holding on to it while being tackled or stripped. I just feel like these are easily correctable mistakes and that Rex should use him as much as possible against the Pats
Whatever. I like Greene's attitude. No bitching about the CS, no crying or sour grapes. More "I fucked up. My bad. Now I want to prove myself." That's a fantastic attitude IMO and I hope it shows against the Pats~
wasn't that always the case? I think there was one tweet or blurb that said the surgery might speed up his timetable.
he also dropped an easy swing pass that could have gone for a first down...his hands are just suspect...
Pace is off the cast and will be doing some light running. The earliest he'll be back on the field will be Week 3 against Miami, but I'm pretty sure they won't want to rush him.
week 5 I would bring him back..If he is ready against the Bills, or Dolphins I would suggest NOT bringing him back. Vikings we need somebody to hit Favre.. We can handle the Broncos I think.. Possibly after the Bye..Dunno. Not a huge rush to bring him back.
There were particular posters who thought he would be back this week. I kept bringing up the fact that he actually had to have it surgically repaired and that there was no way it would be healed that quickly. Those posters know who they are, and I was just taking a good-natured shot at them.
I remember discussing it with you a few weeks ago. I was under the impression that it was said to be a possibility that the surgery would somehow speed up the process. I didn't remember anyone being adamant that he would be back for week two. must have missed that.
