I just hope the Jets don't mishandle him the way the Yankees screwed up Joba.

Sanchez has a definite shell-shocked thing going on right now. They need to show confidence in him, and let him throw the ball around the field. Try to limit him to 20-25 passes, but let him throw it more than 5 yards down the field

Am I the only one that thinks Sanchez deserves a significant portion of the blame for this loss? On that film I saw the passes that Sanchez did throw deep being ineffective. I'm not saying Schotty called a great game (he called a chicken-shit game, if anything) but Sanchez executed poorly and he's still the guy on the field opting to take the checkdowns.

I know he's young and still developing, but that doesn't absolve him from criticism when he plays poorly.

Of course Sanchez does, but Schotty should have been in his ear on the sideline saying "Hey kid we gotta make a fucking play out there. Let's air this fucker out"

Who knows maybe Schotty did indeed say that, but like all of us, I have no idea what the fuck went down.

I blame everybody. Rex, Schotty, and Sanchez. Rex probably had the game plan to be as conservative as shit(his emotions get the best of his coaching abilities during bad times..for example @Miami last year)

I don't blame him nearly as much as I do Schotty. He really needs to stop trying to be so fancy and cute. Lineup, block and throw the damn ball.

There is no rhythm yet, for the QB, Oline, and the receivers.

I remember vividly Giant fans calling for Eli's head, even the year of your SB run, so you of all people should know how quickly things change.

When quarterbacks win, they get all the credit. When they lose, they get all the blame. This will never change.

I think Sanchez wasn't as bad as everyone has made him seem to be.

He had a couple of nice plays, and over-coaching is definitely something I think he's falling victim to. For example, sliding on the third down play.
There's no doubt in my mind he wanted to stretch for that first down.

Also, our targets need to do better. Sanchez made a great read and threw the ball almost simultaneously with Cotchery's cut on the out route. He needs to catch that ball.

When the HC is in your ear all week about not turning the ball over it is no wonder Sanchez played the way he did. They need to let Sanchez play his game for better or worse or else we will end up destroying a promising career.

I agree completely that Schotty is at fault here and deserves more of the blame than Sanchez. That being said, I believe that Sanchez should also shoulder some of the accountability here. From what I've read (and I'm not saying I've read the entire board, so I may have missed dissenting posts) many here are pointing to Schottenheimer being fired/stripped of playcalling/kicked in the ass as a panacea for all the offensive issues that need to be addressed.

Firing Schotty may very well be a step in the right direction, but it's not the only step that needs to be taken. Schotty called the plays, but it was still Sanchez that checked down before reading anything downfield. I can't find the article, but I know after the game against the Giants in the preseason he spoke about taking checkdowns with enthusiasm. He needs to be coached out of this, but also needs to realize the team needs him to win games and not just manage them.

I wanted Eli run out of town week 16 in 2007. Ask Cato about it.

Regardless of whether or not his development has capped out yet (it hasn't) Sanchez still needs to be a bigger positive factor on the Jets offense.

I think firing Schotty right now is a bad idea. If this team was a 4-12 team I wouldn't mind it right now, but at the beginning of a season.. bad idea. Especially for our young QB. Last thing he needs is to learn something new in the first quarter of the NFL season.

Sanchez needs to react quicker. It seemed like he was searching for a safe checkdown before looking to make a play.

Lots of things happen in NFL games. That Dustin Keller catch being called back from a Braylon Edwards penalty probably crushed this kid.
Cotchery who NEVER drops passes did.. Shonn Greene with a Thomas Jones look-alike drop too hurt.
Sanchez is pretty delicate I think, and needs to toughen up..take all the bs, and turn it around into something positive.

But yeah we all blame everybody, but alot of us have been sick of Schotty for years now. So 99.9% of us focused the blame on him immediately.

That's the issue that I see as the most concerning. I don't know if he is having trouble reading downfield, if he's been coached so poorly that he's only looking for short passes, if his knee is bothering him and he doesn't want to get hit (was it just me or was he limping after Ngata hit him?), if his internal clock is too quick and he's feeling the rush well before it gets; I don't know.

I know Sanchez isn't a finished product by any stretch, but this chapter of his development needs to end pretty quickly.

It's frustrating when the St. Lous Rams let their rookie QB Sam Bradford throw the ball 55 times. Meanwhile, Sanchez is handcuffed with less that half as many with a paltry 21.

I feel like his head has been fucked with a bit.

"Don't do this, Go for this, No now do this, No you can't do that, Why didn't you do that?, YOU FUCKING TURN THIS BALL OVER I'LL KILL YOU IN YOUR SLEEP"

We will see Sunday. He need's confidence. I really think that's his issue. Last year after halftime vs the Patriots with a big return by Leon Washington, Sanchez came out fucking slinging a rocket down field.

So like I said before.. Him doing well then boom drop pass, nice bullet to Keller at the 4yard line, oops penalty take it back. That type of shit is killing him, that type of shit is killing him, and he obviously isnt fully matured.

    Just my opinion.

They need Santonio Moss. Sanchez has receivers who he is hitting in the hands and they are dropping passes. Its not all on Mark Sanchez. Everybody on the offense has work to do but have faith that this is going to come together. Have Faith !!

He is a 2d yr QB. This is all part of the developmental process. Especially when you have receivers dropping passes and committing stupid penalties that negate big plays. Also - the Ravens are probably the best team in the NFL right now and they only beat the Jets by 1 pt and the Jets had a chance to win the game in the last 2 minutes...... So LETS HAVE FAITH !!!

    Its all confidence.

If its being chipped away at, he's fucked. I think it was fucked with by the CS. After Rex said he was the one who told Sanchez to play it safe all game I've been pretty pissed at Rex. And Cutesy is the fuel on the flames.

The good thing is this is correctable. They're going to have to tweak until they find the right level of aggression, but it's not like we're going to have to watch the shit we saw Monday night all year. At the very least we'll see variation, hopefully they can quickly find a sweet spot.

That's what I want too - consistency. If the offense as a whole can play at one consistent level of 17pts a game, I believe the defense can take care of the rest. Add some defensive scoring or setting the offense up for easy FGs or TDs, and it jumps to 24-27 pts a game.

2 TDs and a FG from a great running game and good receiving corp should not be much to ask each week.
