I respect the offensive firepower the Pats have, but I don't think consistently running 4/5 wide sets is a great idea for Brady's health against the Jets. I can see a lot of max protect happening when they pass.
I don't know guys. Even if we won that game I would be slightly concerned. Not "sky is falling" concerned, but worried about our match ups none-the less. The Ravens converted 11-19 third downs which is too high given a lot of them were +5 yards. Wilson showed that he can hang in the NFL, but did show that he is a rookie and will have growing pains as he did not find the ball as quick as he needs to on a lot of plays. Cromartie's penalties (which despite the outrage in the stadium where legitimate in at least 3 of the 4) need to really be looked at closely, is he committing them because he has lost a step, and is getting more physical with WRs to compensate? The defense played well, do not get me wrong and at time looked dominant, but when it's 3rd down and +5 yards and we need to do better. With the offense I can not be as flattering. Baltimore is a great defensive team, but we were not necessarily beaten purely by their skill. The play calling was baffling, benching Shonn Greene did not play to our advantage given the play calling, and not even trying a deep ball to Braylon Edwards is head scratching. Schotty, or Sanchez's fault, regardless things need to change. Again, Baltimore has a great defense but we really did not make them play great to beat us last night. Aside from Ray Lewis's big hits, and maybe one of the sacks, I didn't see fantastic plays on D. As an aside; Dustin Keller is not a long term solution at TE. He dazzled us in the post season last year, but during the regular season had a bad case of drops and his play at the end of the game last night really made me sick to my stomach. If you aren't prepared to be hit, do not play professional football. These are not isolated plays, when players make plays like that it hints at their intelligence, attitude and motivations in the game, which I don't think are there for him. He could have turned up the field for another seven yards and still ran out of bounds. The loss is not his fault, do not get me wrong, but it was just a sensationally awful play that indicates either lack of toughness or awareness, neither of which are good things for a starting TE. It is too bad, because Sanchez could really thrive with a consistent TE.
sanchez played conservatively...if Cotchery catches a third down pass and if Edwards isn't moving before the snap when Keller caught the best throw of the night near the endzone people would be talking about how Sanchez lwt the team to a win, played with what the D gave him, and didn't make any mistakes. Hell if Edwards doesn't "run" into the kicker and Wilson doesn't interfere in the endzone you are still having the same conversation. All this Baltimore talk -- what did they do? A field goal and a penalty aided TD drive. Their special teams units were awful...punt, kickoffs, and punt returns. Sure they have more weapons but last night you saw two of the top defenses in football dictating a game. I am interested in seeing how the Jets play against NE and Balt does against a Bengals team that has more potential to abuse their secondary,
This is what Some Jets fans do: Massively Overreact Negatively or Positively based on one game. Its just part of the environment here.
Well, overreacting by fans is one thing, but making adjustments to breakdowns is another. I hope Rex has a talk with Schotts and tells him that what he did last night was not "Jets football." That conservative play calling doesn't hack it. You've got to play loose and go for it.... no guts, no glory.
why are u talking about the front 7? lol thats the entire point....schitty ignored that insane front 7 and ran right into it :breakdance: im not complaining about the jets not scoring, im complaining about the shitty way they went about their offense. sanchez hits keller deep and then what? they dont even try it again the whole game. they take 2 shots downfield the entire game. the jets are losing in the 4th and schitty runs it up the gut 3 STRAIGHT PLAYS. are u serious? keep believing in this shitty coordinator, its gotten your perception, and the offense as a whole extremely far :breakdance:
Thats when the question was asked who was at fault more: Sanchez or Schottenheimer I thought it was a no brainer in Schotty. He has been here since 2006 and its always been this way. Now with Sanchez, he is going even more conservative in his approach. People also keep saying "well it was Sanchez's choice to check down" but what do you think Schotty told him? Probably something like: "Don't make a mistake. The defense will win this for us as long as you don't commit turnovers. If a WR is not completely wide open, check down." Something like that.
we have a great team missing 2 parts: 1. Quarterback-Sanchez is not the guy. 2. Head Coach-we have a really good def. coordinator as a head coach, and that's all he ever will be. The Ravens saw that when they didn't hire him. CROMARTIE MIGHT MAKE MISTAKES, BUT FROM WHAT I SAW FROM THE OFFENSE YESTERDAY, HE MIGHT BE THE HIGHEST SCORING PLAYER ON THE TEAM WHEN HE TAKES SOME INTS TO THE HOUSE!
If you can't throw the ball downfield in this league with any consistency, you are not going to win. I don't care what kind of defense you have. Also, when you play scared because you do not want to turn over the ball, you're finished. An NFL defense will sense that and feast on you. Five games in (including preseason) and the "O" is still sleepwalking. No signs of life whatsoever. This offense is reminiscent of some of those awful Jets teams in the early to mid 70s, sans John Riggins.
yes, i agree. which is why he sucks, and the jets will never win with this mentality. his playcalling is atrocious. i still cant believe we ran it up the middle 3 straight times when we were losing in the 4th quarter right into the teeth of their defensive strength
Yep we kicked our own asses for sure but I have yet to see any offense this year. They sure didn't show any in preseason. Schotty needs a kick in his ass and get this offense pumped or we're in trouble
I'm rooting for the Ravens until we meet again.... Starting this week I want them to kick Bengal ###.... I've been hearing wayyyyyy to much chatter from Bengal fans - probably cuz we kicked their ### x2. Bitter Cincy fans I hope the Ravens Smash them!!!
Heap was a beast when Boldin wasn't. I agree with 2k10, the Ravens could possibly be a hell of a team this year. We'll see them again, I have a feeling, and we'll be sending them home and making sure they receive thank you cards on Superbowl Sunday.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't we the length of Edwards' arm (running into the leg of the kicker) from winning this game 9-6 with one of the most putrid offensive performances ever and 14 penalties against one of the elite teams in the NFL? it may not turn out to be, but I would look at the glass as half-full on this one.
I agree that the Ravens are talented and there is no shame in losing to them. BUT, if the Jets are the team that they say they are, they find a way to win this game instead of finding a way to lose. Don't act for a second like Baltimore played up to their ability. It's entirely too early to say the season is done, but there are some very real problems that need to be fixed. Oh, and the defense played freaking awesome. I love the way the Jets play defense.
This team is still a work in progress on some levels, that much is painfully obvious. It's comical that people were in denial of that possibility and are now losing their shit. That being said I think most of the issues are going to iron out as this team plays together and continues to grow. We hung with one of the toughest teams in the AFC and were in it till the final seconds. Of course you gotta find a way to win these games, and I believe that if we go head to head with them again the way will be found. This team is capable of beating any opponent come Sunday. For the first time in many years I really am believing that.
