Same here. He was a class act all the way and as tough as they come--which was a good thing because he couldn't get out of his own way and took a lot of hits. But I always rooted for O'Brien, even when he went to Philadelphia for a short time.

Seafood, I was a big O'B fan too, and he took a lot of brutal shots, no question. But when I read your line about "tough as they come," I couldn't help but remember a close game in like '87 where the Jets needed a score late in the game. Jets on the doorstep, a pass play breaks down and Kenny has a clear shot to run the ball in. He tucks it in and starts to run. An opposing linebacker is closing in. O'B can dive for it, but instead he totally pussies out and goes fetal just short of the line. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

    Is this ringing a bell?

Yeah, I think it was 89 or 90 vs Miami, I was sitting upstairs above that end zone and all I could see was open space for half of the field, we all jumped up thinking he was in. From that vantage point I couldn't see what O'Brien actually did, but after the game Miami safety Louis Oliver, who I think made the stop, said O'Brien pussied out. I always found it hard to believe, considering he'd stand in the pocket and take so many hits standing still, that he would be afraid of contact with the ball tucked away and actually with some momentum. I always assumed from that play that he was just a lot slower than even I thought he was.

If you hit someone enough they'll start flinching every time.

What did Mike Tyson say? Something to the effect of "everyone has a plan until you punch them in the mouth."

It was '89 and it was Oliver who made the hit. We still might have lost that game but we would have had a much better chance, either way that team stunk so one game wasn't changing our season.

First time seeing the Jets play in the Meadowlands. I know the stadium is new to everyone, but for those familiar with the lay of the land - where is a good public spot to hang out prior to kick off? Where can I find the Pussycat Dolls before the game? Ive seen the Jets in Atlanta and New Orleans, now Im ready to be a apart of the home crowd. Flying up from Alabama for the game and leaving any southern hospitality at home. Lets kick some ass. J E T S Jets Jets Jets.

Is this starting soon or are we waiting until we know there will be a season?
