I saw this thread on the Giants' forum I post on and I thought the idea was pretty neat in addition to being a reprieve from all things Revis. In your opinion, which school has given the Jets the best/most talent over the years? Take your pick in terms of quality vs quantity. I can't say I am familiar enough with the Jets to have any real contribution to this topic, but I am going to have to take the easy & obvious pick of Alabama and Namath. I don't think he's the best player in Jets' history, in fact I believe as purely a player he was fairly average, but as a leader, off-the-field-persona, and blessing to the NFL he's second to none in Jets' history and (delectably) to any NFL player on any team. Plus it's really cool to see him still involved with the team today. What do you guys think? EDIT: If you're in a particularly negative mood or feel like mentioning it, list any schools that have shafted the Jets via the draft.
haha reprieve from all things Revis?!? Not likely seeing as he came from the school the produced the best jets of the last 20 years. Curtis Martin Pitt!
Ohio State produced mangold and Holmes of course it also produced Gholston and nugent.... Then there is Michigan which gave us Braylon and David Harris
Actually, the part about it producing Gholston gives me an idea. I'm going to edit the original post and add a worst school feature.
By the way, what's the name of the Giants forum where you post? I can only find one, and that's the official site's forum.
and Marty Lyons Three Super Bowl 3 Jets came from Maryland-Eastern Shore- Emerson Boozer, Johnny Sample, and Earl Christy. Sherman Plunkett, a Pro Bowl lineman who retired after the '67 season, also came from Md.-Eastern Shore.
I've often wondered this myself. Pitt is a good answer for the recent years. Don't forget that shitbag Schlegel.
Yes, he did. others- Kyle Clifton John Booty and the first head coach in team history, Sammy Baugh, was from Texas Christian
yes, some bums and some good ones Marvin Powell Curtis Conway Chad Morton Dave Cadigan Matt Willig Richard Wood Ronnie Lott Windrell Hayes Mark Boyer R.J. Kors Tailback Anthony Davis was drafted by the Jets in the 2nd round in '75. He never played with the Jets.
In the past 10 years, the Jets have drafted from mostly state schools. Ohio, Nebraska, and Miami are notable schools. Their list is pretty diverse though. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?teamId=3430&type=team
I intended for this to only apply to players drafted by the Jets. Besides, even if you do want to apply this to free agent acquisitions, shouldn't you wait to see if Tomlinson plays well for the Jets?
