Not gonna happen until after the season. Due to the uncapped year, Harris can only receive 30% annual increases on his contract. D'Brick, Mangold and Revis were all 1st rd picks so it is much easier to work out their deals then a 2nd rd pick like Harris, who is guaranteed to make only $550K this year. I don't think hes interested in 30% increases on those type of numbers but hes cool and understands the situation.
Good thread brah. There's a ton of reasons (the season is starting, the 30 percent rule, the fact that we'll have the franchise tag at our disposal) as to why both the Jets and Harris have acknowledged that a deal won't get done until the season is over.
what do you guys think David Harris will end up getting? Dansby got 5 years, 43 mill. 22mil guaranteed Patrick Willis got 5 years, 50 mill. 29 guaranteed.
I had also read that the Jets would take care of Mangold after the season--similar stuff was written and said about D BRICK--------as someone else said can't Tanny rewrite the contract? I mean Harris is making squat this year , Willis is awesome but our boy Harris is a tackling machine--we need this guy.
They should give him his 30% increase this year bc he is without a doubt the most underpaid player on the team. Also Harris is a tackling machine and makes big plays but he is no Willis. That guy is easily the best LB in the NFL.
Something right in between this. He's better than Dansby, but not as good as Willis. 5 years, 45 million, 24 guaranteed?
Seeing as how the deal's going to be done after this season, it's going to matter alot as to how he plays this year.
Who actually thought the Jets would be able to take care of 3 of the core 4? I was hoping for 1. Tanny is the man!
Tanny is amazing, but i truly think the credit for this one goes to Rex. Tanny has been trying for 7 months, and Rex meets with him once and revis returns. Sure tanny gets props for the contract proposal, but rex gets the points for closing the deal.
