Hard not to get excited about Nova. Heard he hits 97 regularly. I love it how there are all these Yanks prospects that get hyped and they just trade those names while they just keep quiet about the gems and casually bring them up (see: Cano, Robinson, Wang, Joba, etc.)

Romulo Sanchez was put on the DL. I don't know the exact injury. The report I saw said his elbow was wrapped, but that didn't appear to be the problem. SWB-related, but more MLB important: Aceves will start tonight. I think I saw he'll be going about 3 innings.

Hey AMJ, just a question out of curiosity: why don't you list Golson's stats under SWB? Do you not believe he's a relevant prospect? He hasn't been great, but I've read a few occassions where he's shown flashes of brilliance and may just pan out really well. Also, you don't list Miranda who is probably the best overall hitter we have in the minor league system.
What has Miranda ever done that you're so high on him? I mean, he's okay and all. I don't think anyone thinks of him as a great hitter. Whatever production he has put up, he has done so while being rather old for his level, too. He's 27. We should be seeing his prime years right now... and we're seeing an OPS in the mid-.800s in AAA. That's good and all, but nothing special, if you ask me. He's a B+ prospect. If he's the best overall hitter in the Yankee system, the Yanks are in trouble. (I'm pretty sure that spot belongs to Montero, though.)
They're both bench players at best at MLB level. I'm just listing the guys who are legit prospects with starting potential.
I guess that's fair enough. I hear Golson is "right there" though, and could actually pan out. Miranda is likely not much of a MLB-prospect though, so that's fair (though I would like to see Miranda be a bench player with the pro club.)
Miranda's got big league power, so he's got a good chance to be an MLB player in the future. It's just gonna be off the bench, and probably not with the Yankees.
Yeah, I've figured he was trade bait for a while now, but lately he's been getting timely hits and driving in some runs. While I like what Thames has been doing lately, I'm getting really tired of always picking up retreads from the scrapheap to fill the bench when we have guys in-house who can fill the role. I don't mind purchasing every starter if that's what it takes to win, even though it's not, but the bench guys I'd like to see get a shot with the team in the Bronx. Not really a big deal either way. I was really just curious about why he left the two I mentioned out.

Albaladejo is finally getting the call! He's on his way along with Moeller (how many times is this guy going to get called up just to be sent away again?) and Golson. Miranda did not get a callup. The only thing I can think of is that they'd like to keep his bat in the lineup down there while they pursue the title and he'd do a lot of bench-warming up here behind Thames and Berkman. I was actually surprised Alby got the nod for that reason. I figured he'd be kept there to help the team win, but I guess the pro club can use him more given the recent rotation trouble. To make room on the 40-man, Marte was put on the 60-day DL.
