What an ugly game, the good news is we didn't have key injuries and that is always most important but man our O was atrocious. The good news: The D was great- starters, 2nd unit, 3rd unit- no matter who was in there they were great inclduing Lowery who made a few nice plays w/ the top unit. STs: got some help from Carolina but receovbered a couple of fumbles and had a nice PR by McKnight. Nikc Folk was a perfect 3 for 3 including a 49 yarder. LT: He looked quick, had a great 3rd down and long run for the 1st down. No Injuries: this is always most important bad news: Mcknight: looked better, more aggressive running the ball but still wasn't effective except on that one punt return meanwhile Leon returned to play for Seattle and looked good including an 11 yard TD run and looked ready to go week 1. I thought we goofed at the time and it's becoming clearer that could be the case but if McKnight can get it going that will make it easier to accept. Sanchez: He was just off the mark all night but he was under constant pressure. starting OL: looked bad out there, they weren't creating any holes and were not preotecting the QB. Brunell: I like having a vet mentor for Sanchez but if mark does go down we'd be much better off w/ Clemens coming in. Overall a sloppy performance but again no injuries and that is what is most important. Friday Night will be the preseason game we can learn the most from and I expect a much crisper performance on O.
Eh I think we lost this guy for the year http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=58516 Supposedly he was to be in the "rotation" on the DL
Fun fact: The Jets could get humiliated in a postseason loss for the next 10 postseason games and still would have less postseason humiliations than the Miami Dolphins.
Agree with most of your points here, the 3rd preseaon game is always where you see where the team is at. We'll be fine. Not sure about McKnight, he's been very shaky and I never like having a rookie return punts, too many jitters out there. I loved Leon as much as any Jets fan probably, I still think it sucks the way the orginization treated him after he did the right thing last camp and didn't hold out. Damn shame!
Hardly going to play? They played into the 2nd quarter. I consider hardly playing, maybe 1 or 2 series.
Hellz, I loved how the Dolphins sent Dan Marino out in style with what was it, a 61-10 loss in the playoffs or something to that effect? LOL!
We'll be fine at CB once Revis is back, we are fine at LB. We have depth issues on the DL but we did last year too. DE's are almost just bodies in rex's system.
I don't buy the whole, Jets are trying new things on offense argument. Aren't all the teams doing this? Oakland dropped 32 this week. Buffalo dropped 34 Detroit dropped 25 There are some fundamentally wrong things going on with the Jets offense right now completely independent of the wacky and zany things they were trying out there last night. The point I was trying to make before is that Sanchez cannot have games where he is off the charts and then in the next game, puts up the worst numbers of his career. Instability cannot be tolerated. He seems too heady to me still.
As someone else pointed out, the '07 Patriots went 2-2 in the preseason. The 1972 Dolphins went 3-3 in the preseason. The '08 Lions did go 4-0 in the preseason. As for the two other winless teams since the merger, here is how they fared in preseason action- 1976 Buccaneers: 1-5 1982 Colts: 3-2
I think many of us can remember the 92 Jets going 5-0 in the preseason and sputtering to a 4-12 wreck of a season...uggh, bad memories.
As long as he is not turning the ball over, Sanchez is doing his job ... If he is just a middle of the pack qb this team wins 10 games
Responding to idiots is not the way to make them go away. Ignore trolls and they got bored and go away to the many other exciting things in their lives. Reply to them and you give their entire existence meaning.
I think they enetered with the idea they were only going to play 1-2 series, but they sucked so much, Rex decided to make them play longer. Either way, the offense was not mentally into the game
