It was telling that he didn't get consistent playing time until the second half. He was outplayed by undrafted players on our team and was unable to beat the Giants second and 3rd stringers 1 on 1. Some of the guys who stuffed him might not even make the Giants. Gholston registered no stats last night. I really have no idea why he stays on the roster. I wanted to give him a chance and see if he can excel with a fresh start in a new position but I just don't think it's happening.
I thought he looked much better out there and more comfortable with his hand on the ground. He's not just trying to bull rush the whole time and was throwing in the rip moves. He even got a pressure.
I remember seeing him get pretty good pressure twice on the QB but yeah, he gets paid way too much for what his contributions are and have been.
remember, this is his first preseason game at a new position. i'll probably type the same thing next year at this time, but whatever.
I remember him seeing a RB on the other side of the opposing offensive line and just giving up on the play altogether. I want him cut as well. He's a fucking pussy.
If I see him bull-rush one more OL and then stop moving out of nowhere like he forgot to tie his shoe, I'm going to lose it. Why can't we cut him, again?
I saw him get 2 or 3 legit pressures. Gholston is a solid backup DE, it makes literally no sense to cut him. We're already paying what we're paying. Maybe I'm wrong, but if we cut Gholston, don't we have to eat his money anyways?
If we cut him there is still dead money but because there is no cap this year I don't think it matters..the Jets would still save 2.5 mil....they say what they say but I am not at all sure they won't cut him at the end of camp if he hasn't progressed. http://www.nyjetscap.com/salary.html
He was playing OLB a lot as well when I was watching. They were letting him go right at the QB almost every play and he got nada.
i was trying to follow him as much as possible. i saw him get pressure twice (one being the sorgi throw to ? where he got drilled - i thin by LB Laury). Other than that, i saw some bullrushes and trying to beat the Tackles with speed, which he didn't. Surprisingly optimistic with the guy. Now i don't care. Next season he's gone (or maybe this one).
Well on the teaser he said "People say this is a make or break year. I don't really feel that way." Nobody can light a fire under this guy's ass. Not metaphorically anyway. So I suggest we move on to actual fire.
Typical Gholston game. Always five yards away from the tackle as if he is backing up the play. He quits his pass rush as soon as he is hit by the O-line. The one time he did get a clear shot at the QB, he tripped. So bad, he's funny.
I was screaming at him from my seat in the stadium, its so fustrating watching that pus play ball. Some dumbass behind me goes, "dude he was picked 6th overall, he is good!" I wanted to punch him in the face.
we're going to have to keep him this season, but this has to be it. We can't hold a roster spot hostage anymore if he's not getting it
