Rex is a proud guy, that shit probably kills him. As an aside, I don't recall ever hearing the offense doing that well last season. Sounds like Conner killed it on the goal line too.
Question: Is it good that a DB gets in int? I mean, our offense gets a negative play, and our D gets a positive play. So in essence, every play is a neutral play, no?
Can someone go back and compare how our defense performed against the offense in last season's training camp?
You want the offense to score. A lot. Did the Colts or Saints need the Jets' defense last year? Defense stops your opponent from winning, but offense wins games.
You need to go back more than one year to make an argument like that. I'm surprised you would make an argument like that.
Besides the Ravens or Bears how many other teams won Super Bowls on the backs of their defense? Scoring wins titles. Sure, an elite defense can get you there, but if you have an elite scoring offense you'll win more games than just having a shut down defense. Fortunately, we have a shut down defense, and now we're seeing an elite offense coming around. It's actually a scary thought.
Big difference between winning solely on defense and having a Colts/Saints offense. Generally you need both to be pretty good. uh huh. me likey.
If Darrelle Revis was watching from the sideline they would not have scored once, his impact is that big.
That's like saying you can't win a game if you don't score any points... Past 10 SB from the Ravens win on: - Baltimore Ravens - New England Patriots - Tampa Bay Buccaneers - New England Patriots - New England Patriots - Pittsburgh Steelers - Indianapolis Colts - New York Giants - Pittsburgh Steelers - New Orleans Saints Did any of these teams have a bad defense? Au contraire mon frère. All of these teams had above Average to Top Ranked Defenses..... Absolutely, Even when he's on the sidelines he got you covered.
The Giants may not have rode the defense to the superbowl but they did hold that record breaking pats offense to a whopping 14 points. I would say that counts as another case where defense won a championship.
Of the teams on that list, you could argue that the Saints did not have a top D. All of the others were good, if not very good, in the years that they won the superbowl. The Steelers, Bucs, and Ravens rode thier D's to wins, and New England had an extremely stingy D in thier 3 wins. As has been said about the Gmen, they put up a great game against perhaps the best offensive machine of the past 10 to 15 years. Despite what the talking heads and NFL want you to think, defense still matters.
With the exception of the Ravens and Bucs, those teams had a QB to put them over the top. The Saints and Colts didn't have top defenses during the regular season, but they got hot during the playoffs. The Colts learned how to stop the run, and the Saints secondary started playing very well.
