Yeah, I'd tend to agree, and wondered where to put him (first or second obviously) but then everyone else moves down a spot? Or Cano staying 5th, and Montero 6th and so on from there? I just feel like Cano's place is eventually higher in the lineup than 5th, and even with ARod's new "I'm a team guy" attitude, I can't see him accepting a "demotion" gracefully.
Jeter SS Crawford LF Teixeira 1B A-Rod 3B Cano 2B Montero C Swisher RF Posada DH Gardner CF Unless Teixeira starts to regress soon, I think Cano will remain #5 for the next couple of years. If he continues to improve his plate discipline, he could become a #2 with a lot of power. But keeping him at #5 gives you a longer lineup. Montero will be the cleanup hitter of the future. I'm convinced he's the next Miguel Cabrera. I might be a homer, but I think he's that special.
Jeez, that's some lineup. When your DH (who has power) is hitting eighth? Wow. You think Jorge would hit behind Swish though? Is that to allow him to drive in Swisher? I'm with you though. I firmly believe Montero is going to be a superstar hitter. So someone who covers the Scranton team said last night that Montero looks confident coming to the plate now, like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. The kid is just brimming with confidence now. I'm excited for September. I can't wait to see him up here for a month! Some other notes from him: Miranda is supposedly looking like a better hitter than Montero. I think he was implying more disciplined, but still, to even be talked about in the same breath with Montero at this point is pretty significant. Miranda is going to be some nice trade bait in the offseason I think. Every once in a while Golson looks like he's going to be special. Obviously we've seen him already, but if he gets himself figured out, who knows. Edwardo Nunez was awarded "best SS and best infield arm in the International League." That's for those who think he's just a mediocre prospect. Albaladejo got "Best Reliever in IL" honors. He's just one save shy of the IL record. Why isn't he up here yet?
