Was really talking up the secondary. Trying to prove to revis that we WILL move on without him. Hope his idea of having a team meeting with revis actually happens!

Its good that hes taken that stance... Rex kind of created a monster by talking his players and team up so much before actually winning anything, in my opinion.

He inflated an ego that is already extremely large with Revis (granted he is probly the best CB in the league, but its close between him and Nnamdi)

I'm sure the Jets would be fine without him, but as Rex said "He certainly would make things a lot easier"

That's what happens when you have a player like that in the biggest media market in all of sports, then creates his own brand with "Revis Island" etc.

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Clearly annoyed that Darrelle Revis' representatives called his boss a "blatant liar," New York Jets coach Rex Ryan made an unusual proposal Wednesday, inviting Revis and his agents to training camp to meet with the Jets' hierarchy and the entire team -- players included.

Ryan said it was a "blatant joke" that agents Neil Schwartz and Jon Feinsod called out owner Woody Johnson and general manager Mike Tannenbaum, accusing the Jets' brass of lying about whether Johnson was invited to attend a negotiating session last Friday in Roscoe, N.Y.

"This is what I would like to have happen," said Ryan, whose proposed plan was scripted. "Everybody put their cards on the table. Have Darrelle come here with anybody he wants. We'll have Mr. Johnson here ... We'll call off practice. We'll have our whole team there to meet.

"That way, there's no he-said, she-said. Let's work it that way. Maybe that's how we'll get a solution. Everybody wants a solution. Let's figure out a way to do it. Maybe this is the way."

    Ryan said he's "absolutely serious."

Schwartz responded to Ryan's quasi-invitation, saying, "If the Jets want to set up a meeting, they know how to reach me." Schwartz wouldn't say if he'd agree to the meeting if the Jets did, in fact, call him.

The back-and-forth continues, but the bottom line is this: The All-Pro cornerback still hasn't reported to camp, as his holdout has reached 11 days. There is a huge gap in negotiations, with neither side expressing any optimism that a deal will get done anytime soon.

    I think that is BS.....

Do you REALLY think that is was some super secret that Rex let out of the bag that Revis was the Best CB in the league??????? You really think TEAM MEVIS wouldn't have created the monster all themselves?

I find this amazing when repeated elsewhere but, for a Jets fan to pin this on Rex...

THAT is the way Rex coaches and gets the best out of his players - If you don't like it call Herm Edwards back.

rival fans need to understand that Rex is not telling the world anything new when he talks up players like Revis.

Anyone who loves football knows Revis is the best in the game right now.

    Rex didn't create any monsters.

Rex "really talks up" everybody. He almost referred to Clemens today as a "good quarterback" (he caught himself as he was about to say 'good' and switched shit up) during the same presser.

I have a man crush on Rex...

He called out everyone, no practice all hands on beck...no more he said shit.

Woody probably isn't happy and Revis's crew even more upset, but you've got to love Rex

If Revis can stand in front of the whole team and say $120M with $30M garraunteed is not enough he will lose a lot of respect and backing from the players.

And prove he should be called Mevi$.

that right there is great, Revis would never be able to stand there and say no f-in way, will I sign that. Its the perfect plan, for every negotiation really. How can you look your teammates in the eye and a turn down a very big deal like that? I mean they can't because the team would hate them for it.

But the point is moot, because there is no way in hell that Schwartz would agree to it because thats his biggest negotiating tool, the he-said, she-said shit combined with the "well you promised!"

The thing is Revis does deserve more than Champ Bailey. Even he's getting about 13 million a year. I don't see why we just can't up our 10 year 120 million deal to 10 year 140 million..maybe that would do it..

AMEN!! indeed!! I like Rex a lot and what he said came from a true football coach!! He wants to fix things without all the lying etc!! Like he said this will reach him, now it's time for Revis to respond not his uncle, Schwarz or any other idiot he hired as manager etc..... Darelle has to step too the plate!!
