This theory is rediculous for one simple reason. It would have to be an organizational decision across the board to play along with it, and Rex Ryan doesn't know how to lie.
I am starting to think he is just plain clueless. Team leader his is not! As I've been saying, the Jets need to play hardball and refuse to give him a new contract this season. Best case senario he does miss practice and voids his own garranteed money. He will be a Jet for three years even without a new contract. If the Jets do give him a new six year deal, who is to say he won't pull this crap in three more years. I say Mangold is priority #1, then we need to get extentions for Harris, Edwards and Holms. We can give Revis a new deal next year, tell him there will be no deal and he can shut up and play or sit home and not get paid at all. Nothing turns off future suiters like being a no-show. No other team except the Raiders would give him the money he wants, so why should the Jets? The worst case is he sits out, and we start the season with Cromartie and Wilson. Kyle would be a starter as a rookie on almost every team except the Jets, Packers, Ravens and a few others and Cromartie is a top 3 cover corner in the league. We can safely go into game one with them and I would not worry. @#$% Revis and his agent!
Regardless him coming out and saying the Jets need to pay their players and he has no clue on whats going on questions me about his view on the team, how much he would willing to go to help his teammates and everything else,I would think he would know the situation
Just my opinion/speculation: I feel like the Jets are going to back off on these contract talks with Darrelle. Revis knows he needs to get a contract done before the season or he is only going to make $1 million in 2010. The Jets really have nothing to lose, besides pissing off Revis, by letting him play out the season under his rookie deal. I don't see how Revis can ever top last season's performance, so his value will never be as high as it is now. I would much rather take care of Mangold first (before camp even starts) and then get Revis whenever he wakes up and realizes that paying a CB $16million a season is ridiculous.
Yup... you can spin "interviews" in soo many ways who knows whaat Revis actual position is! You should all try it once, read an article on a Jets presser and then go listen to it on nyjets.com... you'd be surprised!
Yeesh, typical Revis. Instead of concentrating on money and a contract extension, he's out there practicing against some of the best wide receivers in the NFL at the most intense pre-training camp program in the country. So clueless.
This thread is hilarious. We're talking about Revis island here. Revis will do the right thing or Rex will sit on him.
If you haven't been paying attention Revis Island is more concerned with putting banks on his island then victims, or even a ring for that matter.
+1. Players are rarely involved in the day-to-day of their contract negotiations. That's why they have agents and lawyers. He tells them what he wants and they go out and get it.
LOL- That is a unique way of looking at it. TO be honest a lot of players train together in the off-season who are on different teams. Usually the press does give them some heat, like Shockey practicing down in Miami.
