I'm just saying with green coming out and saying he won't run out of bounds and LT not being the player he once was who the hell is the backup? This is a 16 game season. It's about how you finish right?
A lot of people in the media and opposing fans share your curiosity. The rationale behind those moves was "It's better to cut ties one year early than one year late". Faneca was putrid in pass protect last year and had a massive salary, coupled with his age the NYJ decided to go with a young guy. T Jones was solid but I am of the belief that his numbers were moreso a product of the OL than him making guys miss. He is a pure cut-back runner, he makes very little contact and can't push the pile at all. He's also 32, and regardless of what he did last year he wasn't getting any younger. Shonn Greene had a successful audition in the playoffs, and LT as a backup is fine by me. Are we better? Not sure, but in the long run these moves make sense. I don't think we're worse after these moves.
Faneca was on the decline when we signed him in 2008, and he led the starting LGs in the NFL with 6 1/2 sacks allowed. The Jets want to build a solid young line in front of Sanchez, and I think it's more likely that Slauson wins the LG spot and Ducasse ends up being Damien Woody's replacement. The Jets running game was excellent in 2009 because of the O-line, not because of the dynamic efforts of one Thomas Jones. TJ is a workhorse and a stat compiler, but he is nowhere near as dynamic as Shonn Greene was when given the chance. That was obvious. So the Jets went with youth at the RB position, like all teams that have sustained success on the ground do in this league, and they picked up LT to work the dump-offs and screens until Greene gets his hands right as a backfield receiver. You ask why the Jets mess with a good thing. Because the teams that don't try to find ways to get better than that end up being a flash in the pan. The Jets are planning for the future, as opposed to the many idiotic rival fan notions that they are all-in one-and-done for 2010.
I have no problem calling out any front office Exec. I'm pissed at Parcells for treating JT the way he did. In fact if I came across the old fuck I'd probably crack him in the head! Iv'e been watching JT plays his ass off for years and i dont care who you are respect should be given
I must say I'm rather impressed with your responses. I guess I expected a prediction on green breaking the single season rushing record or Rex winning a hot dog eating contest. I agree that Faneca was on the decline so I'm sure they feel pretty good about the backup but all these contracts and stuff would make me a bit nervous.Dont mess with Revis and pay the man!
Yeah, it is about how you fucking finish. Who's team played in the AFC Championship game? Our team. Who's team didn't make the playoffs? Your team.
Haaa! And there it is. Just like clockwork. Mr. fucking electric wins the jackass of the day contest. You wanna play? Lets do it then. I like the way you steamed rolled into the playoffs and beat a sorry ass overated Chargers team. I mean really? Yeah we didnt make it into the playoffs I noticed that. If your not first your second moron. You gonna order up your "We almost won the AFC Championship game"? Classic
That's a great point because after we lost Fin fans started talking up how we couldn't have a good offseason because of the F4 rules. Apparently. Antonio Cromartie, Santonio Holmes, Jason Taylor, Brodney Pool, LaDainian Tomlinson...
You won't find a Jets fan on this board that is not nervous about the 3 players left in the Core Four who still have not signed. But we now finally have the comfort of an excellent HC who can coach around the holes on his roster. We haven't really had that since Parcells. It's a nice feeling, because the weaknesses on the team aren't as glaring.
+1000000 All you'd hear from Fin fans after the AFCCG was "They'll have a worse draft pick" and "They won't be able to sign anyone" FAIL.
I'm not really concerned about rules F4. If you dont win enough games it will be do to ridiculous expectations for a franchise that has been shitty for a long time. Say what you want but to be talking Superbowl while backing your asses into the playoffs is silly. I'm not talking Superbowl and it aint cause we don't have Mark (Thumb in the ass)Sanchez either. he's probably underneath D'Brick right now! By the way worry about the teams in your division first cause you gotta be able to beat them first. Whether you like it or not we swept you last year and its going to happen again. Monday night Bitches!
Listen pal, before you start spewing all the 'backing in to the playoffs' b.s. let me remind you the Dolphins' last playoff win was in the previous MILLENIUM. Also, what the fuck does it matter if the NYJ "backed in" to the playoffs? They went on to win two games rendering your label null and void. Acknowledge this.
where did everyone go? I want to hear more about your "Excellent Head Coach"? Did Sanchez really sleep over at Lance Bass's house?
Oh I get that they made the playoffs. I just don't get the "were gonna win it all cause we made the playoffs last year". It's looking like your window of opportunity wont be open too long since your players don't believe that "we'll take care of you bullshit!Put up or shut up!I'm only respondidng this way cause of MR.Fucking Electric's brilliant reply's. By the way the dolphins Have been to the playoff more times in the last decade than the Jets have and that aint saying much so stop already. Your not an expansion team for christ's sake. It's New York right?
You have to realize some people have been drinking the kool-aid since the playoff run. Your fan base would do the exact same thing if they ever manage to win a playoff game in your lifetime..... Do I think the NYJ will win the Super Bowl? Unlikely. Do I think we're a SB contender? Absolutely.... look at the talent on the team, it can't be denied. Ultimately, it all comes down to Sanchez. If you can't deal with the occasional douchebag on the internet then get the fuck off the internet. EDIT: And no, the Fins haven't been to the offs more than the NYJ this decade. Fins (00, 01, 08) NYJ (01, 02, 04, 06, 09). And it doesn't change the fact Miami hasn't won a playoff game this millenium
Good stuff Jake! Honestly neither one of us should be talking bout playoff wins which was my point but if that makes you feel better so be it. Oh Im all too familiar with morons on the internet but I am noticing that a hell of a lot of Jets fans are those morons. Not you of coarse so don't be offended. Its one thing to be confident its another thing to talk trash when nothings been accomplished. It was just a few months ago when Rex was saying you weren't that good and sanchez was all over the Doctor phil show cryin and shit. Then two weeks later rex says"why shouldn't we be the team to beat"? You have to understand that from the outside looking in its like watching a virgin on prom night blow his wad then saying he'll do better next time.
Please provide me with a quote of RR saying his team "isn't that good". When was Sanchez on Dr. Phil? And why shouldn't the fan base be confident in the team? They were 30 minutes away from the SB, where then the secondary was exposed. The secondary has been addressed (Cromartie, Wilson, Pool). A lot of pieces have been brought in... that's why people are confident in this team. Is that so hard to digest? Maybe it is because you're a Fin fan, but objectively, it's understandable.
Jake I understand being passionate and believeing in your team. All im saying is when your coach makes stupid comments in the media and your franchise quarterback is cracking under the pressure shedding tears maybe some realistic expectations would be a little more normal? You know from the outside looking in?As far as the quote goes i ain't making it up and you know it. It was at one of his classic press conferences. I think rex is a hell of a DC but as a head coach he's got alot to learn. i absolutely love this rivalry and I look forward to the season!
