I don't see why we should do them any time before the draft. Keep them secret so other people don't know your plans. Open trading to anyone on the roster up until the draft. A guy I want may not necessarily be a keeper for someone else. Add to the strategy and eliminate the training camp injury problems.
As good as that sounds some of us would like to plan our drafts instead of guessing at the last minute. That and it would require all 16 owners to be there on draft day which I have yet to see happen in any league I've been in. What exactly am I suppose to do with if multiple people didn't do their keepers when the draft starts and don't show up? I can try this next season with a deadline of an hour before the draft but I need some time to do the absentee keepers because at least one person will not do it. We'll stick with this for now and put this up for a vote for next season if it's what people want to do.
I did my keepers but cannot remember if we get the extra picks at the beginning or the end of the draft if we keep less than 7...
If someone doesn't pick keepers or show up to the draft they don't get any. It would make drafting more realistic as well. Teams don't announce their plans for the draft or free agents before hand. They keep it as close to the chest as possible until they make the move. It's like I said, more strategy.

Woo! deadline passed and everyone did their keepers except WW85 who failed to sign up and I will find a replacement for him in a couple of days unless a miracle occurs and he signs up.

Just voted. I'd prefer as late as possible as far as date, Mon-Thursday are all equally fine, and anytime after 8 PM is fine.
Those should all work for me. One thing to note: I don't know when Hard Knocks is starting, but let's make sure we don't schedule the draft on a night when the show is airing.
Does anyone else have any preference to when the draft will be held? I'm just going to set it up now unless someone has a problem with it.
