Uh what? How was he going to reply, have the Wall Street Journal call him immediately following the comment and get his response?
He twats constantly. Twats about taking a shit, twats about going to the club- you don't think he'll twat about this? I don't refer to it as a "tweet" because I refuse to acknowledge Twitter as sort of useful tool for communication.
There's no need to bash and if they are going to bash when he walks out the door then they should bash when he's here.
yeah, that's a useful tool when trying to keep a player focused on doing his job. the Junc lessons in motivation and team leadership -- just trash players if they deserve it, that will certainly put them in the right emotional state to contribute. c'mon, really?
Im pretty sure he was just fielding questions from the reporters, especially since another CS said something about it few days ago as well. I doubt if months later, Thurman is taking it out on Sherry.
Good idea. Lets start bashing our starters just before the game and tell them they are worthless piece of crap and won't be winning this game. It will motivate them to win the game.
as usual you cannot understand what is posted. He was crowing about this regime being able to speak their mind, the point was if they want to speak their mind why not do it when he is here? Yes it can be a motiovator. What would be the jetBlue lessons in leadership/toughness? To trash a guy once his back is turned? There was no need to kick the guy on his way out and now this is the 2nd coach to do this. The coaches should be able to turn the other cheek. It is what real leaders do.
^What makes u think they didn't speak their mind when he was here? We know they were at unease during the season so Im sure they had SOME kind of discussions.
why speak to the press about it now? you don't think they were asked about rhodes during the season? The point is they should just let him go off to Arizona and move on, there's no need to trash a player when he leaves. we all get it, we have a good idea what they thought or else he'd still be here- there wasn't a need to trash the guy.
All of this back and forth takes away from the fact that Kerry Rhodes is a whiney little bitch who will now spend his waning years rotting in Arizona. At least he's got a top-5 draft pick to look forward to this year.
NYJunc, I respect your opinion and you usually have something to back them up. I just happen to disagree here. You don't talk to press about such stuff about a player on your roster, especially during the season. Im sure the CS doesn't think highly of Braylon drops an easy catch, but they give him a pass since he'll make up for it with the insane one handed catches. In Kerry's case, he didn't make up for most of his lazy efforts besides a few picks that actually landed in his lap. If they bashed him during the season, the morale in the entire locker room would go down. In Thurmans case, he was probably just fielding questions. I doubt if he went out of his way and months later, started bashing Kerry. I hardly call this bashing. Kerry admitted to this anyways so this is most likely the actual case, rather than just trashing someone. He was different and didn't fit into the scheme, simple. He might be better in Arizona. Thats really what Thurman was saying. We don't have the entire press transcript to base our opinions on, but Im just using common sense, since our CS have nothing bad to say about Leon, TJ, Feely, Faneca...
I like reading the quotes as a fan because it's funny, and I like seeing inside glimpses like that, especially if it supports the images we believe of the players. I understand Junc's point, but it's May. If they're still talking about Rhodes once training camp starts besides for the occasional subtle jab to prop up our own players, then I'll start to be annoyed. But on May 26th? No big deal. There's nothing to talk about.
no, you're the one who clearly doesn't quite grasp it. there is a huge difference between someone not being able to speak their mind and them choosing their words carefully because it would be more beneficial. at this point, it serves no purpose to hold back, so he chose not to. that in no way indicates he was under some restriction that prevented him from doing so before. you completely have to ignore the fact that they probably chose not to in hopes of getting Rhodes to play a little better. that wasn't very hard to grasp.
A nickel for every time that shithead was pounding his own chest while the play was still live. Sometimes with the ball up for grabs on the carpet!! Honestly... fucking infant.
They were trying to win with Rhodes on the roster last season. Now: fuck him. Same reason why Rhodes' comments about the CS only wanting to see the Bawmer recruits succeed didn't come out until after the season. This is typically how this shit works.
I think Mike Pettine and Dennis Thurman are still shocked, honestly. They come in here with a system, a staff and a personnel group designed to make Kerry Rhodes look like a superstar and he spends the year criticizing the system, ignoring the staff and condemning the personnel group. Hollywood Rhodes, seeker of the big cameras and bright lights, gets himself evicted from the most popular team in football mere months before they open a new stadium and star in an HBO mini-series. It's funny that he's going to Leinart's team, though. That pretty boy wannabe quarterback sulked for a couple of years when the New York Jets passed him by and he fell to Arizona. Then, he has to watch his less successful USC successor guarantee Super Bowls and shrug off White House cameos as the star of the hottest team in football... The New York Jets. And now, here comes pretty boy wannabe safety Kerry Rhodes with a hearty "Helllloooooooo, 'Zona! Thank God I'm not on the New York Jets anymore!" Heh. Poor Matt must be spinning in his career's grave.
Actually, Rhodes threw the first punch when he told the media the CS squandered his ability and was holding him back. I have no problem with the CS answering reporters questions about this, considering how vocal Rhodes has been in the past about anything and everything. Don't dish it out if you can't handle it yourself, Kerry.
