I would absolutely love it if the Giants get crushed when they open the new stadium, to the same team that shamed them to close their last one.

Those pricks felt entitled to open the new stadium, and nothing would be better than seeing a mediocre Panthers team showing them that they arent even contenders anymore.

Pretty easy for Brandon to say that when the Giants don't even play us this year. I also seem to recall him saying after every game last season that he was finally going to break out "next week". So I guess we can take what he says to be the opposite of the truth, then? Guess so.

The Giants lost their right to claim anything after the way they closed out their own stadium. Times are changing.

they wont get crushed, but I can see them losing that game again. Don't see where they really improved stopping the run/secondary besides Rolle who they overpaid.

    Ain't this the truth.

And for what it's worth (and I can say this having watched the video sessions on some of these interviews) a few reporters seemed to be really pressing with Jets-related questions. Tuck, Eli, & Coughlin all said, in not so many words, that they didn't really care what the Jets did. Jacobs took the bait and said something.

Another day has passed, and the sports "writers" of NYC stay gainfully employed.

The Jets are currently the hotter of the two teams, there is no denying that. The Giants have come first in New York for a longtime and I can't see that changing anytime soon/quickly. The Giants existed first and have had a better history as a franchise; it only stands to reason that they are typically viewed as the premiere football team in NYC. The Jets are definitely hotter right now but unless they go on to be dominant for a decade and the Giants toil in futility for a decade, I can't really see the pecking order (as it were) changing.

Look, if the roles (colors) were reversed, I'd be chirping too. NE=18-0 going into the SB?? I wanted NE to win for 3 reasons:

    - beating the Giants
    - "F" the NFL
    - having Don Shula and those champange-drinking '72 Miami assholes shoving those corks up their arses.

Much like the Jets last year, come that year, the Giants beat a number of (overrated) NFC teams during the playoffs (admittedly) ON THE ROAD:

--Tampa Bay=a lousy 9-7 weak division winner (Jacobs blasting TD's over overmatched, smaller LB's)

--Dallas: now THAT was an impressive win with Manning orchestrating a TD drive at the end of the 1st half to offset a Dallas 'comeback' score...and against a team that had their number during the regular season. That game I admit I wouldn't have bet against Dallas (in Dallas). I'll give 'em that one...though Dallas--their glitzy rep aside--hadn't won a playoff game in over a decade.

--Green Bay (another overratted NFC team): a game I thought NYG would win with a pre-SB hint: the DL pass rush against a VERY-OVERRATED GB OL line (i.e. another weak NFC Lions/Bears/Vikes-at-the-time division). No Raven-scary "D" teams in the NFC that year.

Playing NE in the final regular season game, Coughlin to his credit--gotta like the dude for that didn't bench his players...Giants realized they could play with NE and ended up being barely outscored (late Moss TD) 35-31 or something like that....but...Coughliin WISELY wanted to "dress rehersal" the Patriots for 60 minutes, i.e. see what their "A-game" involved.....smart coach!......smart 'BC' mic:

Coughlin then sent his DL and clobbered Brady to pull off a SB win that I admit I'd love to have in the Jet ledger. Granted, Samuel dropped a potential game-clinching INT and Tyree made a great play, but come the next season, do remember: following their SB win, the Giants started out 5-0 and everyone thought "#1 NFC-seed" .... remember: the seasons is long....and it can involve injuries, etc.....

That said, maybe Jacobs is still smarting over that madbacker Jet LB--Scott--(without a helmet) literally RIPPING the freaking football out of Jacobs' hands the last time the Jets-Jints played.

Yes it was a pre-season game but still Brandon.....Bart!....

Much as I'm not (like many here) crazy 'bout that dancing-with-the-stars diva from Miami rushing the QB for Gang Green this year, who wouldn't like to see him planting Eli's ass on the turf?...and hard?...

Come to think of it, why didn't the NFL schedule a Jets-Giants game the 1st year in (Mike Fatcessa) "Giants Stadium?"

Brandon Jacobs sure does a lot of talking for a guy who is always injured and ran for just 3.7 yards a carry last year, doesn't he? Didn't he say he would retire last year if he didn't finish the season strong? What happened to that?

He said if his average YPC was 3.3 by season's end, he would retire. He finished at 3.7 with a torn meniscus. He is always injured, but he's also an animal when healthy and grinds down defenses both physically and mentally.

I will admit that his attitude seems stupid when he's injured and not playing great, but I wouldn't change a damn thing about him. Tell me you wouldn't love that kind of attitude on the field.

I have some issues with your thesis...

Why would you want a division rival to win the Super Bowl EVER? I would see the Jets 3-peat as Super Bowl Champs before seeing Romo, McNabb, or anyone in Philly bring home one Lombardi trophy. I don't want to go down this road for any great distance, but when people refer to the Jets' fanbase as having a collective inferiority complex THIS is the kind of stupidity to which they are referring. I'm glad that most Jets' fans I encounter and most of the posters here seem to be much smarter, or at least more secure, than you. But I digress...
I'm going to be brazen and say you're dead wrong here. This is the single most underrated game the Giants have won in the last 15 years. If they lose that game Coughlin is fired, Eli is around for maybe one more year, and the Giants are in the thickets of rebuilding mode. All the efforts Coughlin has made to build that team in his image are for naught.

As for the game itself, keep in mind that Tampa had the #1 defense against the pass that season. The Giants were established as a running team and that point and Tampa played them that way, they sold out against the run. Eli went 20-27 for 185 yards, 2 TDs and no INTs; he was the reason they won that game. The defense amassed all of one sack, though they did also come down with 1 INT. Jacobs and Bradshaw were hardly dominant either. Eli came in to the home field of the #1 pass defense and won that game for the Giants.

I decided to save the rest of my criticism for here. First off, Samuel came down with his foot out of bounds (watch the replay) and that pass only went to him because David Tyree broke off his route, he admitted this in an interview later on.

Dallas was the #3 scoring offense in the NFL that year, Green Bay was #2, and New England was #1. The Giants beat all these teams. Keep in mind that Dallas had beaten them twice, and fairly convincingly at that, earlier in the season.

Green Bay was hardly an overrated team that year, Favre was playing great football and Ryan Grant was new on the scene and running over everybody. I will admit they were a team playing above their heads, especially on the OL, but they were still damn talented. The offensive line, that you feel is overrated, kept Favre clean pretty much all night.

I know I came at you with extreme prejudice here, but this is a pet peeve of mine. Entirely too many people comment on this amazing Super Bowl run while not actually knowing a damn thing about it. Don't be that guy, broseph.

I agree, I do like that kind of attitude, in fact we have several guys here now who have that philosophy. But it's one thing if he talked after his 15 TD season.. it's another thing to run your mouth when you're always hurt and coming off your worst season. It comes off as sour grapes saying that stuff when he personally and the Giants as a team are coming off a pretty poor season, while the Jets were 1 half away from the Super Bowl, even if he has something of a point.

I'm shocked to see a Giants fan defending Jacobs. It's pretty clear he isn't mentally the type of running back he should be, and would be one hell of a lot more effective if he realized that. Even if he gets his share of nice, bull runs here and there with his size, there are an equal amount of carries where he tries to do things he physically can't. Those other runs have hurt the Giants a lot over the past couple years. Two years ago there were times when I thought that he was clearly no more than the 3rd back on the roster.

Jets would beat the Giants 27-10 heads up. That's why he's mad...

Nice to see Jacobs is still talking after his terrible 2009 performance. THat's fine.

He is right for all those keeping score. This is a Giants town, until the Jets do something about it. The Jets are moving in the right direction but need to win the big game to begin to at least be on par with the G-men.

It is what it is. This has always been a city that leaned toward the blue.

I'm having trouble hearing Jacobs over the sound of his next knee injury.
