I watched Rugby for the first time at my girlfriend's house (she's French, and apparently her mom's boyfriend is part owner of some team in France) and holy shit it's pretty brutal. Rex Ryan's kind of game.
He is a stud, one of the young stars of the Rugby League.
FINALLY. I've been waiting for a Rugby, or Soccer player to join this team. I want our kicker to be a soccer player, AND with his amazing soccer speed he will return kicks.:breakdance:
Yeh, in rubgy you have to touch the ball on the ground in the endzone for it to be a score. He's probably one of the best tacklers in Australian Rugby at the moment, and he's quick. Add pads and he'll probably hit harder too.
The guy looks like a super star. Why would he want to come here and learn a new sport. Can he? Looks like he can be a tight end.
Rugby is nuts. I used to work with girl who had gone to college on a rugby scholarship. She got her front teeth knocked out, and it was it like, eh, no big deal. Well, she got them fixed of course, but still. She was a tremendous athlete in general. We'd have company picnics and she'd kick everybody's ass in baseball - all of the men, that is. Outside LB. Hmmm. Maybe this guy Inglis he kicks Jason Taylor in the balls.
lol watching the first minute of that youtube video he looks like he can be a hell of a kick returner
That's correct. Players who play in Arena leagues, semi professional leagues, or Australian rules football /Rugby leagues can sign an NFL contract as a free agent. EDIT: After reading the draft rules I'm not quite certain how this works now. The rules I've read aren't very clear. "Football players who have been out of high school for at least three years are eligible for the NFL draft. The rules do not state that a player must attend college, but virtually all of the players selected in the NFL draft played college football. A year as a "red shirt" player in college counts toward eligibility even though the player was not allowed to participate in games during that year. Therefore players who have completed their red shirt sophomore year can enter the NFL draft. A few players are also selected from other football leagues like the Arena Football League or the Canadian Football League." On the other hand, I know that players have been picked up from Arena/CFL teams before that did not enter the draft... .and if i remember correctly Ben Graham didn't enter the draft when we picked him up.
I can't see it eventuating. He is in his prime now and if he switches codes it is likely to be to Rugby Union, here or Europe, if he is chasing the money. He couldn't walk into an NFL starting line-up without some time learning the game on low wage.
What kind of money is he making now? I'm sure there's plenty in endorsements, but he'd get probably $500k plus tons of performance bonuses if he came to the NFL.
Is all of that falling down good for your health? Anyway, he definitely looks like a football player. That stiff arm is beastly.
