That's a pretty tough stance to take when you consider the average career of an NFL player. I believe it's only 3 years or something like that. Players who are in their rookie deals and have proven to be one of the best players in the league deserve to be paid IMO. Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting the Jets should pay him 20 million/year, I just think he's earned a big contract.

    HOLY HELL REVIS CHRIST ALLMIGHTY!

20 freakin mill plus a year? cmon man, i thought that you deserved whatever you asked for and that the Jets should just pay you...and then you come out with this...

I really hope this is like when your selling an antique car and your asking price is ludicrous but your real price is far below it....

he is great and all, but the best ravens defenses, or greatest defenses of the past in the nfl, didnt have a revis on them. to win a superbowl, it doesnt require an over paid corner. he would be missed if he walks, but so would the other two to three players that walk when we cant afford them. trade his ass while he still has major value.......for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, like on madden!

Screw him he don't need $20 million. No team is going to pay him that much. Ever see Toy Story? remember how buzz replaced woody, well I hope Wilson will replace Revis so we can get this loser out of town.

20 Million is definitely not happening.

Worst post I've ever seen. Somebody put this idiotic quote in their sig and bring it up every time Revis Christ makes a play.

No, but they did have some great players. They used a different formula for there great defenses, but they still needed great players. Revis is a great player that Rex needs to build a great defense. He can't turn water into wine.

F' Revis and his agent! 20 Million? Nope, NO corner, even the best is worth that! I will take Wilson in a year or two and trade Revis away. If he gets this deal, then we will be right back at 8 wins as we wont have any cash left to sign anyone else. Remember: Rhodes "Was The Jets version of Sliced Bread" UNTIL he got the Fat contract! Then look what happened: He sucked arse, didnt care and went to the bank and cashed checks. Not saying Revis would do this, but a few years ago, did anyone out here think that Kerry would toss it in as well? Haynesworth? Another one, collect 32 Million then get lazy fast. Trade him next year for 2 number Ones, I willtake my chances with Wilson and Cro-mart.

    Yep, totally agree with WSW.

Revis deserves a big ass contract. He deserves to be the highest paid defender in the league because he is the best defender in the league. He's concerned with greatness, too; he's not just going to sit back and chill once he gets paid. He wants to be the best corner in the history of the game and he wants to be paid as such.

Twenty million is too much, though. That's his opening number, but Tanny can probably get that down to around 17. 20 means no Edwards or Holmes or Cromartie, and we'd probably have to pick two out of the three of Harris, Brick and Mangold.

I find m lombardi's writing hard to believe, aso is getting 15 mill a yr from crazy al davis who has consistantly been overpaying lately...to ask for 5mill more than the highest paid cb just doesnt make sense, on ANY level

Things would've worked out differently with Leon had he not snapped his leg in half.

lol just imagine how much Revis would be asking for if we won the super bowl last year (and he likely getting superbowl mvp) stacked with him actually getting defensive poty.

Then hed probably be able to extort 20m a year from some team

thats my point exactly. maybe a different formula for defense will be needed when revis has his contract in another city. why would any team sink 15-20% of its salary money into a position like corner? qb, rb, lb, or some other position that puts lots of stats on the stat page seems reasonable, but 20 million on a corner that has how many interceptions per year? how many tackles? how many passes defended? im not saying he doesnt help our team in a major way, but wouldnt three more players at other positions of need have the same effect? lets wait and see if he can duplicate last season before handing him a contract that will alter the teams ability to pay other players what they deserve. we can kiss our superbowl chances goodbye if we let mangold, brick, harris, or others walk because we gave revis way too much money.

Its easy to say all this shit about him asking for too much, but some of the same people would bitch about us letting him go. He is too vital to this defense to let him go when his contract expires. You pay important players. You pay vital players a lot.

He's way better than you are giving him credit for, and 3 other players at other positions would not be as valuable because no one in the league can do what he does at that level. Who would you replace him with? This defense depends on lockdown corner coverage. Those players don't exist on every street corner. Its more important to have guys that win you games than some guy who puts up some pretty stats. I'd rather have Revis than some other corner who had a few extra interceptions and blew his coverage in big spots.

Can you give me another Toy Story analogy to make it clear? I'm still having trouble understanding.
