Defensive Coordinator Rob Ryan Wanted to Draft CB Kyle Wilson? AUTHOR: Steve DiMatteo | IN: 2010 | COMMENTS: 1 Comment Tostitos Fiesta Bowl - TCU v Boise StateAccording to some very strong hints by his twin brother Rex, head coach of the New York Jets, it would seem that Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan wanted to draft Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson with the seventh overall pick in last month’s NFL Draft. Instead, the Browns drafted Florida cornerback Joe Haden, while Wilson fell to the Jets with the 29th pick. During his press conference, Rex Ryan said, “There is somebody that I really know well for a long time that basically said that he was their guy and they picked a lot earlier than us.” All signs would obviously point to his brother, Rob, but no one really knows if that’s what he meant. The Browns were supposedly debating between drafting either Haden or Wilson, though that was denied by GM Tom Heckert. Either way, that’s not something a coach should be throwing out there. The NFL Draft is obviously a crapshoot, and every team debates nearly every pick, so there is no reason an opposing coach should be mentioning the dissenting opinions of another team, especially if the information received is from the brother of the opposing coach.
I still can't believe we drafted CB Kyle Wilson. Dwight Lowery is more than capable of being our 3rd CB. We should have taken Sergio Kindle, Linval Joseph, or Everson Griffin. When Antonio Cromartie has a beast year with 10 picks, where does that leave Wilson? On the bench, occasionally coming out for nickel packages, Nice pick, but we could have done better. Just saying
Just saying negative stupidity all over the place- Rex loves the Nickel, and can throw all kinds of formations out there to put Wilson in. You are either senile or some kid home sick from school- Either way don't hit your pants and you'll probably get a cookie.
Haden is the better corner but if Wilson was picked at 7 I don't see how Haden would fell to us at 29..yet again I didn't think Wilson would have fallen the way he did..Jackson and Mccourty are good corners (especially Mccourty) but Wilson is by far the better cover corner
This coming from someone who still has #50 in his avatar. I think we should trust this coaching staff for now.
Your schtick would work a lot better if it wasn't so pathetically obvious and uncreative. Just my opinion.
In Rex's system you need at least 3 good cover corners so to say Wilson was a wasted pick is ludicrous..besides Wilson was by far BPA on our board
Okay, so if you're poor, and you've got plenty of food, and someone offers you food or water, are you gonna take the food? NO, BECAUSE YOU ALREADY HAVE PLENTY OF FOOD. IT AINT A NEED. We needed the water, damnit. We needed a pass rusher, not more food AKA another CB
What were the Dolphins needs?? Don't be mad at us because of their shitty draft- Sign up in April, Check Insert VG Avatar, Check Make stupid comments, Check Kill that gerbil and your day is complete. Good Luck
